We were off on our travels to Balmoral to play Aquinas with a 9.30am Kick Off, so we had to leave Ards at 8.15am.
These early morning kick offs don’t seem to agree with us as we struggled to find the form we showed the week before against Abbey Villa. Aquinas were certainly up for it and were 1 up in just 2 minutes as we struggled to match their pace. Aquinas were playing good passing football and our boys seem to be still in Ards. We went 2 : 0 behind in the 13th minute and by the time the half time whistle went the game seemed all but over.
HALF Time: 0 . 3
The second half was slightly better as we started to play some good football ourselves but we were climbing a mountain and to be honest I have to praise Edward Muldrew how was injured last week with a calf strain for his commitment but it was clear he was nowhere near 100% and had to be rested midway through the match and also Reece Atkinson who has a groin strain that happened at training on Wednesday but he too wanted to do his bit for the team but was clearly struggling in the match and had to be rested as well. Noah Crenshaw was working really hard and was unlucky not to score on several occasions but Aquinas grabbed their fourth goal in the 57th minute and we managed to grab a consolation goal through Reece Atkinson.
FULL TIME: 1 . 4
Managers Comments;
Certainly not one of our best performances boys but we need to learn from the mistakes we made, I know we can play a lot better as you all showed the week prior.
