The 3rd Round of the cup seen us again drawn at home but again playing at a different venue this time it was Orangefield with a 10am Kick Off.
Our opponents were Bryansburn so we knew this would be a tough encounter. The weather was bad the pitch was soft and we started the game very slowly and at time very sloppy. We fell behind in the third minute when a mistake in our back line aloud Bryansburn to score, 0:1. We were not at our best and failed to close Bryansburn down and made things hard for ourselves. We did get the equaliser though in the 27th minute with some good passing football and Jack Patterson found Ryan Hannah with a perfect pass, Ryan took it in his strike and with the perfect of shots bent the ball past the keeper into the bottom left hand corner of the net, 1:1. No sooner had we got back in the match and another mistake saw Bryansburn two minutes later go back in front, 1:2. Then 4 minutes later the stretched their lead to 1:3.
HALF TIME: 1 . 3
This was simply the worst we have defended all season and it was time to go out in the second half and tighten everything up and get ourselves back in the cup and that's what they did even though the second half was better we still weren't playing the football that we know we can. We pulled a goal back in the 46th minute and the build up to the goal was superb, Matthew Guest played the ball out to Edward Muldrew who laid it of to Jack Patterson, Jack surged forward then sent the ball through to Ryan Hannah who saw Reece Atkinson power forward so when the ball came to Ryan he flicked it with the back of his heal straight into the path of Reece who went on to put the ball in the net,2:3. The same to player would combine again for the equaliser in the 64th minute, Ryan would put Reece through and as Reece turned in the box he was brought down by the Bryansburn number 5 and the Ref pointed to the spot. Reece brushed himself of and stepped up and slotted the penalty home to make it all square at 3:3 game on with 16 minutes to play. The feeling within the team was we can do this but the sucker punch was yet to come and it did in the 69th minute when Matthew Guest saw red for a late tackle and that would put us under pressure as we have to play the last 10 minutes with 10 men. Bryansburn grabbed the winner with 5 minutes to go and this was probably the softest goal we've given away all year, 3:4.
FULL TIME: 3 . 4
