More about the team
Founded in 2005 by Sam Spry and a few other drunken individuals the team play in the Grantham & District league.
Ben Hudson is now the only ever present player throughout the clubs history, and he also takes on the role of chief press / web communications officer.
Phil Davies joined initiailly as a player midway through 2005/06 season, but quickly hung his boots up despite a goal scoring debut and moved into a coach / management post. Phil has been involved (and in some seasons single handedly) in running the club since the end of the 05/06 season.
A further mention has to be given to the remaining players who were with the club in the first season but have left and since returned (the grass not always being greener!), Liam Davies, and Tom Bedford.
A change in manager (Tony Bedford) joined in 07/08 and with the help of his assistant Phil Davies guided the club to their first success during the 09/10 season, winning our first cup competition.
Season 10/11 saw another trophy with a runners up trophy in the final of a pre season competition. The team finished 3rd in th league and made 5 cup quarter finals.
2011/12 season saw the team move to the Peterborough & District League, Phil Davies take back over as manager with the support of new assistant, and rejoin forces off the field with the formally formed (During the 09/10 season) reserve side (see www.teamstats.net/bastonathletic).
During the 11/12 season, the club were awarded the FA Charter Standard for clubs. Check out the site page for more details.
Finally a mention to our sponsors, for who we give many thanks for their financial backing as the club would not exist without them.
