Baston had another goal chalked off after 20 minutes. But there were few complaints, as Greg Rawlinson was clearly offside when he ran through to score a composed finish. Caythorpe were chasing shadows, but Baston’s best chances fell to the head of Mindy Valys who should have scored but missed an open goal from a couple of yards out.
After half-time, Baston continued their to dominate possession but still couldn’t manage to score. Valys again denied by a stunning point blank save by the Caythorpe stopper. Caythorpe hit back on the counter after an hour, with another scrambled finish.
Baston threw everything at Caythorpe in the last half hour, but the closest they came was with Ross O’Loughlin hitting the bar from 25 yards. The home defense stayed resolute and never looked like losing the game, as they were able to clear Baston’s crosses and long balls away easily.
