Baston went into the cup semi final full of confidence. What ensued was a disaster......
Baston having dominated the early moments and almost having taken the lead (An effort at the back post from Hudson following a good run from Rawlinson down the left), were struck down by two unfortunate injuries with leading goalscorer Bullivant and defensive stalwart Davies both limping off. Baston rejigged the personnel and tactics well and continued to dominate possession without really threatening. Rawlinson having a pop shot from 20 yards which was saved well.
Facets' first really chance came from a scramble in the box which saw Hudson make a reactions save on the line. Unfortunately Hudson was playing centre half the result being a penalty and Baston down to 10 men. Farcet struck the penalty home with confidence and never looked back.
The 10 men of Baston dominated possession throughout the remainder of the game but were undone by the numbers advantage and the lack of a final ball. Farcet second goal came from a fortunate penalty, Hames being adjudged to have handled in the box, the referee failing to see the quite obvious push in the back causing Hames to lose balance.
Baston pushing for a goal to get back into the game were then caught on the break and after a mix up in the box the ball bobbled to a Farcet player who made it 3-0. The game all but over for Baston.
Baston gained a consolation goal from a quite superb free kick from Clay, a thunderbolt effort from 25 yards out to give a glimmer of hope to the visiting side.
All that hope was lost however in the final moments when Farcet put some gloss on a well deserved result. With the last kick of the game the Farcet forward lobbing Clarke from the right hand edge of the box.
After the game Davies congratulated Farcet on the win an their tactics; 'We had plenty of possession but couldn't break down their two banks of four. We'll bounce back and hope to achieve what is our main aim for the season of promotion to Division 3'.
