Baston came from behind twice to beat high flyers Skillington 3-2 at home.
Skillington showed their intentions early on with a series of throw-ins and corners, trying to utilise their height difference in the box. They scored after just 5 minutes with a header at the near post.
Baston didn’t take long to get the equaliser though with Hudson teeing up Sam Baines on the edge of the box whose hard shot went through the keeper to make it 1-1.
Predictably Skillington reclaimed the advantage with another goal from a corner, though the decision for a corner was somewhat dubious with the ball clearly taking the last touch off the Skillington striker.
Baston had several chances to draw level with Bullivant’s chip tipped away by the keeper, Rawlinson driving a shot across the box and Baines squandering another chance from the edge of the area. The Skillington defence was eventually unlocked by a Ross O’Loughlin pass just before the break finding Greg Rawlinson, who smashed the ball past the keeper.
Baston started the better in the second half with Rawlinson fouled for a free-kick just outside the area. O’Loughlin shot was deflected off a defender causing the keeper to spill it. Ben Hudson picked up the loose ball and squared for Matt Medler who slotted the ball home to put Baston ahead for the first time in the game.
Rob Clarke returned to the side and pulled off an excellent sprawling save to keep Baston ahead before being withdrawn due to injury.
Baston held on for a deserved win with Bedford and Moss superb at the back, Skillington didn’t have any real chances as they were closed out of the game and their frustration led to fouling.
