The Weather was warm and sunny the pitch was in good condition and the Tenth Player were up for this Derby match against their sister pub The Hadcroft.
The match started at a quick pace and both teams created chances within the first 10 minutes but it was Hadcroft who struck first blood on 13 minutes when a corner was not cleared and Hadcroft centre midfield player headed the ball home 1 – 0. The next 10 minutes was all Hadcroft but on 27 minutes a brilliant pass from Dannie Phillips saw MOM Craig Hunt get on the end of the pass and score for Tenth Lock 1 – 1. Tenth Lock were now well back in the game and starting to put pressure on Hadcroft. Adam Hurley put a decisive ball over the top of the Hadcroft defence on 31 minutes for Dannie Phillips to get on the end of and clinically finished past the Hadcroft Keeper 1 – 2. Craig Hunt should have added to his 27th minute goal on 34 minutes but a world class save from the Hadcroft Keeper denied him but he made amends on 38 minutes when he went round the keeper to score 1 – 3.
HALF TIME 1 – 3
James McAlister replaced Miles Pitter (Hamstring pull) during the half time interval; Hadcroft also made 3 changes at half time and came out all guns firing at the start of the second half. A build up down the Hadcroft left on 55 minutes saw the ball driven into the penalty area and in the ensuing scramble the ball was turned into his own net by centre half Martin Fletcher 2 – 3. For the next 20 minutes it was a very open free flowing game with both teams creating chance but unable to convert them, it was Hadcroft who broke this stalemate on 76 minutes when a quick release from their defence found their striker in a clear position 3 – 3. After this it would normally have been expected to see the Tenth Run out of steam and concede a further couple of goals however the opposite happened the Tenth players seemed to be goaded back into life. On 79 minutes Hadcroft conceded a free kick out on the Tenths left right on the half way line, Dannie Phillips whipped in a wicked free kick straight into the Hadcrofts 6 yard box and was met by a brilliant header from Lee Ledington 3 – 4. 3 minutes later it was Lee Ledington doing the supplying when he placed an inch perfect path into the path of Craig Hunt who chipped it round the keeper followed the ball and headed in from 3 yards 3 – 5. This 5th goal sent the Hadfcroft heads down and they did not put any further pressure on the Tenth Goal. This was a outstanding performance from every player on the pitch, they fought and battles as a team and after the final whistle celebrated in style
