The weather was dry and sunny but very cold with a strong wind blowing down the pitch. The pitch was dry and very dusty in places.
Tenth Lock knew they were going to be in for a hard game but could not have expected to be a goal down after 1 minute when a corner from the left was whipped in missed by every player in the area and into the net 1 – 0. Glasscutters then put the pressure on but one of the odd attacks they had on 12 minutes saw Lee Ledington shoot from 25 yards out going through the Glasscutters defence and into the bottom corner of the net 1 – 1. From this point on it was Glasscutters sending in wave after wave on the Tenth goal and they retook the lead on 24 minutes 2 – 1. Tenth had the odd chance but it was all Glasscutters but Tenth held out till half time.
Half Time 2 – 1
Tenth started strongly in the second half and a brilliant free kick whipped in by Dannie Phillips deflected into the net off the head of a Glasscutters defender 2 – 2. Tenth kept the pressure on and an excellent through ball saw Craig Hunt get on the end hit a sweet shot for it to hit the bar and bounce safe. The Tenths defence was holding strong but in the 58th minutes they failed to clear the ball and Glasscutters took advantage of this and turned the ball into the net 3 – 2. Tenth created a few chances but they could not convert them into goals. The strength and experience of Glasscutters started to show and as the Tenths players tired Glasscutters scored on 80 and 87 minutes 5 – 2. The Tenth Lock players can be proud of the way they played and this was noted by the compliments that were paid to them by the players and management from The Glasscutter.
