SUTTON NEW TOWN ATHLETIC v WANDSWORTH ELITE
0 5
The game began in unremarkable fashion with both sides having half chances. Dan Yeoman in goal for Sutton probably had more work to do, and made a few good saves but kept a clean sheet for the first 45 minutes. At the other end, scorable chances came to Michael, Phil and Nathan. Wandsworth had more of the ball, but Sutton were able to stay in the game thanks to strong first half performances from Andy, Alex and Warwick. The half ended 0-0. Sutton felt that they would be able to up the tempo in the 2nd half, but were forced into an unplanned substitution when Andy had to leave the match for work reasons.
For the second half Luke came on and for the first 5 minutes the match progressed as in the first half with a chance each for both teams. In the 50th minute, the almost predictable collapse began ands Sutton leaked 3 goals in 9 minutes. Sutton were badly missing Andy’s strength and energy. The game stabilised for a while with Sutton regaining their composure, and having a couple of chances from Phil and James. Another spell of madness ensued and Sutton conceded 2 goals in 2 minutes.
Although the game was gone Sutton had a couple of excellent chances cleared off the line towards the end, and the game finished with the score 5-0.
One of the few positives from the game was the performance of Dan Yeoman. Although conceding 5 goals, none of which he could do anything about, he also made some excellent saves and is starting to show some real promise as a keeper.
