We entertained top of the table Henleys Athletic in the quarter final of the Frank Bainbridge Cup.
We took the lead after only five mins when a Chris Walker corner was headed goalwards by Jason Newall. It fell to Sam Vernalls with his back to goal, he laid it off to Ben Darville whos low cross was rifled home by Graham Caygill from 6 yards.
It was 2-0 after ten mins when a Gary Shardha corner was headed home by Sam Vernalls.
Henleys hit back and Tom Keegan shot over from a Mark Hemingway cross when he should have done better.
On 28mins Mark Raws left wing cross fell to Chris James who with the goal at his mercy headed wide from ten yards.
Between the 34th and 38th minute we had several chances to increase our lead but with a mixture of poor finishing and the brilliance of Brad Elsworth in the Henleys goal the score remained 2-0 .
Half time 2-0.
We started the second half strongly and increased our lead after 55mins when Shardhas left wing cross was converted first time by Vernalls.
After 64mins Vernalls was denied his hat trick by another Elsworth save.
A minute later a Sean Radford header fell to Vernalls whose shot was blocked, however, the loose ball was slammed home by Ben Darville.
With ten minutes to go it was 5-0 when Radford hit a great crossfield through ball from left back to the right wing where Shardha advanced and shot past Elsworth from ten yards.
On 83mins Radford was again in action when he went on a mazy run down the left ghosting past two defenders and crossing for Caygill to slam home from close range.
Final score 6-0.
