?? London Colney Colts U9 Blue ??Vs United Dragons U9 ??
Another full squad for todays match giving us 3 subs for a nice late and sunny kick off at home. Special thanks to our coach for driving back from his golf trip for the match.
The match started with the colts having nearly all the possession and looking like the stronger team, within the first 6 minutes Oscar had at least 3 shots on goal and the Colts had all the possession.
At 6minutes this translated with Albie scoring the first goal with a neat finish
??1-0??
The colts seemed to be surprised by a quick recovery from the Dragons who scored within the next minute. The surprise did get the heads down a little for the colts and within the next minute the Dragons scored again. The colts did lose some momentum at this point despite being the stronger team. ??1-2??
The colts kept the pressure on and there were some substitutions at 12 minutes to keep the energy levels up. The Colts kept the pressure on and Henry had a shot at goal followed by a shot from Arthur.
There followed play at both ends with the match becoming more even and the Colts feeling the pressure of being down with some really strong defending from Cian. Albie had a couple of great shots at goal with some strong goal keeping from the Dragons.
At half time ??1-2??
Back on the pitch and there were some good shots at goal from Oscar with one unluckily striking the cross bar.
At 35 minutes Oscar landed his first goal of the match with an instinctive finish
??2-2??
The high pressure of the match continued and at 40minutes Oscar landed another brilliant goal, striking low and hard from the edge of the box finding the bottom corner.
??3-2??
The colts got caught on the recovery from the Dragons again and at 41 minutes the Dragons shot hard at a distance at the goal and landed another goal.
??3-3??
At 47 minutes the Colts conceded another goal direct from a free kick. Everyone is shocked and can’t believe what’s happened.
??3-4??
Luckily for the Colts they found lots of passion under the pressure.
They showed some grit and told themselves they had a couple of minutes to do something great and get the score line to reflect their skill and possession.
A few words of encouragement from the coach and the ball was once again in their possession in the box. There were a few missed chances and then the goal keeper cleared it, Arthur caught it and passed it back into the box to Alby who tipped it toward the goal with Oscar applying the finish on the line for his hat trick ?????? .
??4-4??
One minute play left and all us spectators riding the rollercoaster of this game, Henry had something left and when they took possession of the ball he took it straight past the last defender at speed and slammed the ball into the corner of the net past the keeper.
The boys, coaches and parents all celebrated. Full time!
??5-4??
All in all a great match and the score line doesn’t do justice to the skill and possession of the Colts. Lots of lessons but ultimately great team play from the boys.
