Away league match played on 27 March 2011.
Kicked off at 2:00 AM

Our final game of the season was played out on a fine spring morning down in Ducklington. We started so positively and brightly with quick thinking and good movement from all over. We were rewarded with a well uted goal after some great combination play from George and Ned out on the right wing with Ned picking out Tyler with an inch perfect cross and Ty buried the ball home to our huge delight. Ned was a constant source of danger in these early moments and had the beating of the much taller fullback. Ollie and Jonts were winning the central battle and moving the ball around nicely until from nowhere we let our opposition back into the game. A soft freekick awarded for a slight nudge out on the right touchline would prove very costly on this narrow pitch. The midfielder whipped in a huge punt under our crossbar to bring Ducklington level. To make matters worse we repeated the offence on the opposite flank and were punished  in a similar fashion to go behind totally against the run of play and undeservedly so. From here on in our quality football disappeared and we had Isaac to thank for a brilliant save before halftime that still kept us in the game.

The opening stages of the second half saw us get back on top but sadly we lacked the decisive passes that had served us so well early in this game and earlier in this season. After our good opening spell Ducklington had the good fortune to be awarded yet another freekick this time on the halfway line. Up stepped the centre half and Isaac did well to keep out this huge effort but the follow up was tucked away and our task grew ever harder. Going to a back three was a risk but  we needed to find some goals quickly and threw Jonty up alongside George and Tyler  with Lewis advanced into the middle of the pitch. The game had become a scrap and like all the other games this season,  once we had stopped playing our game we were unable to defeat them at theirs and the head tennis that ensued  played right into Ducklingtons hands. A long kick out from the home keeper caught out Joe , who until now had another solid game, and the forward beat Isaac to the bouncing ball to round off the scoring for the day. Lewis was denied by the Ducklington keeper as we still continued to try and get a way back into the game right up to the final whistle.

We have taken huge strides this season but just stumbled on a few occasions and fell  a tiny bit short of matching the top sides in this division. You can all be rightly proud of the way you have conducted yourselves and gone about your football with a good positive attitude. As a team we will look to improve and go forward with this our first A league season as a high benchmark . There has been many many happy memories to take from this season and I hope you all have enjoyed it as much as myself and Richard. We will look to enter some tournaments over the summer months and may be involved in some close season friendlies in the coming weeks. Summer training will start on wednesday night in King's Sutton at 6 -7.15.Thanks  once again and well done for the whole season.
