Today was a true testament to everything that has been good about this season. With 3 of our strongest players missing ,the whole squad stood firm and strong to produce the best result and the best performance of the year. When each player was given his position pre-match, there was no moans or gripes or whinges. Each player accepted his role and thought about how he could help toward gaining a positive outcome. From the very first minute to the last we showed a greater desire to win this game of football and at last we were rewarded for our efforts with a comfortable victory over a good opponent. It must be said , Bloxham were no push over ,we were made to work for this win. In a close first half we managed to sneak ahead when Tyler raced onto a cleverly disguised pass from Joe Berry. A stabbed shot into the corner of the net gave the keeper no chance and we were in front. George saw a great effort bounce on top of the bar as we looked to increase our lead but we were all thankful to Isaac who made a superb save on the stroke of half-time to keep us ahead.
After lashings of water we returned refreshed and ready to go. In an amazing eight minute spell we wrapped up the points with both Tyler and George completing a brace of goals and putting us four goals in front. Tyler guided Ollies pass into the path of George , and the midfielder made no mistake with a smart finish across the goal. Tyler then raced onto Ollies clearance and struck home to make it three. Isaac could scense our hunger and released George early with a quick punt up field. With plenty of work still to do George strode forward, lined up his shot and struck an unbelievable shot into the top corner. Bloxham refused to lay down and although our defencive team of Alex, Owen ,Ollie and Ned looked unbeatable they eventually grabbed a little consulation from a twenty yard freekick that gave Isaac no chance. In the middle of the park Joe Berry and Tom Young were outstanding totally dominating the midfield battle and feeding our two hungry wingwers on the flanks,George and Harlie Young. Both wide men caused countless problems all game and Harlie was in bad luck when Bloxhams' keeper made a brilliant stop late in the game. The unluckiest player on the pitch had to be our stand in striker Chris Davies. Chris latched onto a lovely pass from Tyler and placed his shot past the on rushing keeper only to see his effort come back off the inside of the post and hacked to safety. Within moments Chris had another effort blocked out by the keeper and was denied a third time after bursting through the visitors defence and that darn keeper smothered at his feet yet again. This was just about as good as we have played all season. Our talking and calling was exceptional and our most senior players stepped up to the plate to encourage and inspire their less experienced colleagues to put in a performance that impressed everyone today.Across the back both Ned and Ollie won the aerial battles and were always on hand when the pressure was on. Both fullbacks were confident on the ball and supplied some good passes down the line to turn defence into attack. Two good forwards were stifled by our mean defenders all game. My man of the match goes to Alex Judd who never put a single foot wrong today and showed great confidence with every single pass and tackle that he made. Proud of all of you today ,you were all a credit to the club.
