The weather was blustery with the wind blowing from end to end, the pitch was hard, dry and very uneven. The first comment I want to make is to congratulate Ruiton Conservatives players for the way that they never gave up and battled right to the final whistle even though they were getting hammered.
Hadcroft went straight onto the offensive and with only 65 seconds of the match gone Captain and MOM Chris Smith scored 0 – 1. Hadcroft had to make a very early unplanned substitution on 6 minutes when Mark Winter went over on his ankle and was replaced by Andy Perry at left back. Hadcroft kept the pressure on and Damon Lewis scored on 10 Minutes 0 – 2. Chris Smith scored on 12 minutes Julian Probyn scored on 14 minutes and Chris Smith completed his hat trick on 15 minutes 0 – 5. Sean Gray scores on 19 minutes 0 – 6. Damon Lewis then had one of the missed of the day from just outside the 6 yard box he tried to remove the net from the posts but only succeeded on clearing the crossbar and the trees (40 feet high) behind the goal, however he made up for his mistake and scored on 22 minutes 0 – 7. The hard working Julian Probyn scored his 2nd on 24 minutes 0 – 8. Then came the mix up of the day from Hadcroft when a long ball was pumped down the pitch with centre half Lee Turner heading the ball back to Keeper Scott Newman only to see the ball go over the head of the keeper and into the net 1 – 8. Normal service was quickly resumed when Luke Smith opened his account on 30 Minutes and David Chambers opened his account 3 minutes later 1 – 10. Luke Smith scored on 35, Damon Lewis completed his Hat Trick on 36 minutes and not to be outdone Luke Smith completed his 8 minute hat trick on 38 minutes 1 – 13. Chris Smith completed the half with his fourth on 42 minutes.
HALF TIME 1 – 14
Chris Smith was replaced at half time by David Smith. The second Half started like the first with the pressure from Hadcroft David Cambers scored his second on 47 minutes and completed his hat trick 3 minutes later 1 – 16. This is when the wheels started to come off the Hadcroft machine as everybody seemed to lose their positional sense and go glory hunting but nobody could find the net and Ruitons Goal Keeper seemed to become magnetised as everything was going into his hands it took nearly a ¼ hour from Hadcroft 16th before Sean Gray finally managed to get pass Ruitons goal keeper on 64 minutes. Julian Probyn was replaced by Jamie Smith on 65 minutes. Jamie Smith scored a penalty on 71 minute but should have had a least 3 prior to this several missing golden opportunities 1 – 18. Luke Smith scored his 4th on 76 minutes and Damon Lewis scored his 4th on 81 minutes 1 – 20. The biggest celebration of the match was left until the 82 minute when with Hadcroft defence all out of position the ball was crossed to see Ruiton score their second 2 – 20 Ruiton could have had a third when Keeper Scot Newman lost the ball but the goal was ruled out for a push.
