It was a bitterly cold morning with a strong wind blowing, the pitch was very uneven.
Hadcroft made a positive start to this match and were really up for it and a brilliant move saw Chris Smith open the scoring on 31 minutes 0 – 1. However this lead only lasted 4 minutes when the Hadcroft defence failed to clear the ball on several occasions 1 – 1. Hadcroft kept the pressure on the Malt Shovel defence and scored with the last kick of the first half with a goal from Chris Smith 1 – 2
HALF TIME 1 – 2
Hadcroft started the second half in the same way as they finished the first half putting the pressure on the Malt Shovel defence and if David Chambers had scored when one on one with the keeper this game would probably have been out of the reach of Malt Shovel. The whole match changed on 55 minutes when Malt Shovel were awarded a penalty for a foul that did not happen and even if it had been a foul it was outside the area as confirmed by several supports from both teams. Malt Shovel scored 2 – 2. This seemed to deflate the Hadcroft players and they reverted to hitting the long ball which the Malt Shovel defence were clearing up with ease. Malt shovel scored on 67 and again on 77 4 – 2
FULL TIME 4 – 2
