After last weeks dissapointing start to the season, the newly put together Jets side really took off this time round, playing some lovely stuff at times, as they had too much power for the battling reds side.
It was a cagey opening as Reds matched the Jets, going close a number of times, while Kyle and Ethan both had a couple of chances in the first ten minutes. It was on 12 minutes that the Jets got the goal to calm the nerves. A throw from Ben, Kyle took it on and finished with power, great strike Kyle. Two minutes later the lead was doubled, good work from Joe, led to Kyle drilling a ball accross the goal, and this somehow found its way over the line, with Ethan ready to put it in, but he said it had already crossed.
At the other end the two Joes were coping well with the Reds with Ipswich making a crunching saving tackle, and Kieran having to make a couple of smart saves. Ethan hit the bar on 17 mins, with Dylans shot on the rebound flying past the post. On 20 minutes again it was a good throw from Ben, to set Kyle up from close range and he rifled the ball home. 3-0 to the Jets at the break.
The boys confidence was now up, and they started to show the passing football we know they are capable of, three goals in three minutes took the game well away from the Reds, two possibly for Dylan and one for Ethan, could well be the other way round, as some confusion as to wether Dylan or Ethan got the final touch. Ben set up Ethan for the last of those three goals with a nice pass. Reds though continued to be a threat on the break and Kieran had to make three excellent blocking saves in the second half. While on the one occasion Kieran was beaten, Ethan had tracked back superbly to clear the shot from off the line. Ethan at the other end struck a great long shot which was fantastically saved by the Reds keeper. Dylan much more in the rythym was now playing some great team football setting up Kyle on 38 minutes, two minutes later Kyle set up Ethan for a gaol. While probably the move of the game came on 41 minutes, Ethan on half way line fed Dylan out wide who then put in a lovely ball for Ethan to finish smoothly. Ben who had a good game setting things up went really close with his powerful shot just going wide, and Dylan a minute later forced a good save from Reds keeper.
The scoring was completed late on when Joe B got on the score sheet a well hit long shot from the right hand side evaded the keeper and went in for a great long range effort from Joe. There was still time for the Reds to force another good save from Kieran.
After last week when things just wouldn't fall for the lads everything seemed to go our way as the reds had little luck, final score 10-0 Jets. Arguments could be made for all seven boyss for Man of the Match, as everyone played well.
Kieran - Great saves, much improved distribution excellent goalkeeping display.
Joe B - Vital tackles, pushed forward well, composed passing from back
Ipswich - Crunching tackle early on, great distribution from the back.
Ben - Good team display was involved with a lot of the goals, unlucky not to score.
Dylan - After a slow start, was superb in the second half, seting up and scoring goals.
Ethan - Back into the side, and a top quality display, linking well with team mates and taking opportunities well.
but just taking the coaches vote today was Kyle - back to his very best, dominated centre midfield, superb footwork, smooth passing and some clinical finishing. Well done Kyle.
Lets focus on training Tuesday, before a tough game next week when we face Tymemouths strongest side the Yellows. Well done all.
