Home league match played on 25 April 2015.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

The final game of the season for Coventry Cathedral was Vs Cov Saints. The stakes were extremely high for Cov Saints as a victory would see them win the title. Cathedral were playing for pride as a mid table finish was already decided.
Ian Jeffery the part time manager had made a few changes to the side that won 1-0 the previous match, seeing Tony start as striker for his last game of his career due to his age, fatigue, and family life. Another player making his last appearance was Thomas who would return to Germany after his loan spell ended, making his name within the Coventy Church league.

The game started off slowly, with no side taking real control, leaving Cathedral the happier side within the first 10 minutes.
Raj struck an ambitous effort on the bounce, but sliced it horrifically.
Cov saints nearly took the lead as a well worked set piece found a looping header which to Lee Cox's relief was a fraction too high.
The further 20 minutes was tight, a couple of half chances fell to both sides.

Cov Saints looked extremely nervous as they are feeling the pressure, with frustration creeping in as it remains goalless.
Tony Ward and his tireless effort nearly rewarded him with a solo goal but the touch taking the ball too close to the keeper.

Cov Saints took the lead after the referee missed a foul on the Cathedral left back and waved play on. The ball was spread to the left wing where the striker cut back and thumped the ball past the helpless goalkeeper.

Raj tried to take on the left winger within his own half and lost possession, the result of that was a crossed ball in and a diving header made the score 2-0.

Good work down the right hand side, and a whipped cross from Quinny created a good chance for Thomas as he mis controlled it at the back post when he maybe should have chose to head from close range.

Half time - Cathedral 0-2 Cov Saints.

The second half started very much like the first. Cathedral then started to create a few opportunities, the closest being from a Thomas header where it should have been 2-1.

Another defensive error, as they failed to clear their lines twice, with the striker weaving his way through and megging the goalie to make it 3-0 to the visitors.

The next good chance fell to Saints who made it 4-0 with a well worked move which was finished off with ease.

Cathedral were quick to reply, as a long range shot from Adam was blocked, and Ian Jeffery managed to bundle the ball over the line despite a goalkeeper and defender to challenge against.

Keiran was injured, Ben came on for the last 10 minutes. And a couple of chances late on from either side, one being Thomas who hit the post, which nearly fell to Ian 3 yards out, but his desire to tap in the original shot mean that when the ball rebounded off the post, he was not quite in the right position to tap it home.

Bens highlight of the game was an attempted volleyed clearance which he completly missed with the ball comically hitting his standing foot and bouncing off the pitch for a throw in - Get yourself back to training lad

Full time - Cathedral 1-4 Cov Saints.

Overall it was a good performance, the better team won, but considering it was against the team who have just won the league then a lot of positives can be taken from the game as on our day we could have took the points.
Big thank you to Tony Ward in his final game. Always a role model and his willingness to punish the team with horrendus pre season fitness sessions will surely be missed. Coventry Cathedral legend.
