Another victory on the road and five goals and a clean sheet to boot!!! I thought we started well enough and quickly looked to get into a passing rhythm early on. We did have to stand up to the physicality of Corinthian at times but I thought we handled that extremely well.
We didn’t have to wait long for our first goal and what a goal it was! A great ball in behind the defense from Raymond fell for Danny who cut inside on his stronger left foot and launched an unstoppable shot into the top corner of goal. Keeper no chance! 0-1.
The next ten minutes were pretty even with neither team taking real control of the game. We had to battle for the ball at times during this spell and thought we did that well. The second goal followed shortly afterwards after Stevie Bruce was played in to go one on one with the goalie who made a good stop to deny him, but couldn’t do anything about Danny who followed up to grab an easy second for the Harriers and himself. 0-2.
We started to really dominate proceedings from this moment on and it wasn’t long before we added to our two goals. Good play again led to the ball falling for Stevie Bruce who laid the ball on for Ivan who made no mistake by firing his effort into the roof of the net (top middle, of course!)! 0-3.
We could of and probably should have gone four up before the break after Ivan took on all comers down the left wing, got to the byline and played a great ball into the back stick but unfortunately nobody gambled on the ball falling to this area and the chance was lost. Nevertheless, great half which we didn’t want to end. HT 0-3.
I thought we played within ourselves at times during the second half but it was clear to see that we could easily turn on the flair and we did that by adding two further goals. Danny, who was excellent all game, was often a threat but it was Mumford and Ed who combined brilliantly for our fourth goal. A couple of neat exchanges between the two saw Ed through on goal who finished well past the keeper for 0-4.
The 5th and final goal was again scored by Eddy but Danny deserves all the praise. Danny once again took went on a mazy run down the right flank and could of maybe gone for goal himself but instead unselfishly squared the ball for Eddy who couldn’t miss from yards out to put the icing on a terrific victory.
Special mention has to go to the defense who I thought were solid today and limited the opposition to very few chances. A clean sheet is always pleasing to see so let’s hope this is the first of many to come!!
Pixham away at the weekend and another opportunity to extend our excellent run in the league!!
COYH!!!
