With the Euros a distant memory and the cheers of Olympic and Para Olympic fervour a new season of local park football seemed to spring upon us -cck had moved from the harsh slope of wish park to the relatively flat pastures of Victoria rec .the game was a match up between a side still smarting from a last minute title defeat against another who were looking to build on the promises of last season. The cck team handed a debut to new signing mike jolley and there were long awaited returns for star striker Nathan Wriglesworth ,creative player Matt Carvel and muched missed keeper Paul Muzzall . As the early stages unfolded it was clear that cck were starting the quicker of the two teams with slick passing .grest link up play across the pitch and solid defending. Captain Dave Sewell was pulling all the strings in midfield and it was with little surprise that the Badgers took a deserved lead .a great move saw Nathan Wriglesworth score delightfully as he has consistently for many seasons. New signing mike jolley was playing as if he had been with cck for years.O & G did enjoy spells of possession as you would expect from a team of their calibre but they offered very little in terms of goalmouth threat with their talented striker forced to forage after scraps.however, all changed after 20 mins firstly mike Morrison was helped off after suffering a reoccurrence of his ankle injury and steffan lush was introduced to the fray then O & G were awarded a free kick just outside the cck area the referee was directing the wall back and keeper Muzzall sorting out his net behind the goal bizarrely the referee had given the opposition permission to take the kick quickly whilst this was happening O & G gratefully accepted and hit the ball into a gaping net . with the controversial decision and the loss of influential Morrison cck wee rocking and it was fair to say O & G started to exhort a bit of pressure and cck managr mike Melville-reed was happy to hear the referees whistle . At half time cck seemed to re group Nathan Wriglesworth was dropped into the middle of the park and matt carvel pushed up front and around 15 mins into the 2nd half cck again took the lead matt carvel met a through ball went around the keeper and unselfishly pulled the ball back for jolley to las home from just inside the area and mark his impressive debut with a goal . Cck had a couple of chances to kill the game off but they failed to do so and as the game wore on the fitness started to drop and they started to sit deeper .O & G to their credit had kept going and their pressure told with ten minutes to go with a great finish from their hard working striker inside the box .cck were now holding on and although under constant pressure and goalmouth scrambles keeper Muzzall was largely un-tested . Cck hung on and got the draw their performance at least deserved. Manager Melville-reed said after "I was so encouraged we did everything right in that game .was gutting to lose Morro and a bad decision ultimately cost us I thought we were looking comfortable until then that said they are a good side and kept going -I have to be pleasd with our start to the season" captain Dave Sewell said he was encouraged by what he saw
