FC Buscots may have stretched their lead over Corsham Park Rangers at the top of Division Three to six points, however their 3-0 win over basement side Cavalier was probably one they will want to forget as they never really hit top gear, but the Devizes based side will be please they didn’t surrender their winning run which after their latest success stands at 17 games.

Luke Enderby scored twice in the first half and Rod Drown’s second half offering made up Buscots three.

Cavalier were high on confidence after producing two solid performances in previous games, being unfortunate not to take any points away with them. John Stockman played in an unfamiliar role of centre-back - something which he seemed to relish on, make crucial interceptions time after time to frustrate the Buscots forwards. Marcus Rossi again put in a solid display at the heart of the defence.

Roger Wiltshire was playing as lone striker, with a big task ahead of trying to hold up play and bring in wingers Smith and Rance into the game. This tactis worked well in the first half, as Cavalier saw a lot of the ball in the Buscots half. The first real chance of the game came when Nick Smith found Wiltshire with a cross-field pass, who then brought the ball down with his chest, but fired straight at the Buscots 'keeper on the half volley.

Buscots soon took the lead through Luke Enderby, but Dan Rance nearly levelled the game, when he robbed Adam Bewley of the ball from 18 yards, and tried to score from a tight angle, as the 'keeper had came out to collect the ball. Unfortunately the angle was just that bit too tight, and his shot went wide of the far post. An unfortunate mistake from the impressive Marcus Rossi, misjudging his jump for a header, allowed Enderby to double Buscots' lead and take a 2-0 advantage into the break.

Manager Larry Cook was impressed with his side and decided not to change things for the 2nd half. Buscots slowly started to make their mark on the match, getting more and more possession as the game went on. But Cavalier stood string, and unlike many previous matches this season, didnt' crumble under the pressure and concede several late goals.

Cavalier were unlucky not to find a goal when good work from Wiltshire and Dick down the right wing resulted in the latter crossing for Andy Holman, whose first-time effort went just over the bar.

Buscots' lead then became unassailable when Rob Drown rise highest from a corner, thundering his header onto the bar, and ricocheting off the buttocks of Stewart Bates and into the Cavalier goal, for his 3rd own goal of the season!

Shortly after this, John Sotkcman picked up a knock and was replaced by Nick Harford. This knocked Cavalier's confidence a bit, as Stockman had been a rock at the back, but Harford was a commanding presence for his 30 minutes on the pitch, shoring up the back four until the final whistle.

FULL TIME; 0-3.

A special mention must go to Ben Bevan for making a handful of great saves to keep the scoreline at 3-0.
