Day one of the football season kicked off and the cavalier locker room was buzzing. New signings, new water bottles and Rory Wilshere, the new club photographer made for an extra good atmosphere around the camp.
It didn't take long for the controversy to begin as first mark roach, then Neil fletcher were unavailable at short notice making way for ashton scorah to make his bench debut, then "DICK OF THE WEEK" MATT HALE forgot the new water bottles and balls which he was rightly punished for by being made to get his mum to wash the kit....... I hope she told him off!!!!!
Then Rory's excellent camera skills brought to light the very serious issue that Scott Stroud no longer fits in kiddy size shorts and so began testicle gate! A new kit is surely a top priority for big Dave young who was relishing his first full season in charge as manager, and it wasn't long until the gaffer led by example, leaping like a heroic salmon inside the box from a Dan Rance corner in what could be the cavaliers fastest ever goal!! The team went nuts, the crowd rose to its feet and even the opposition managed a small round of applause and a few high fives to celebrate such an occasion. DAVE YOUNG was the cavaliers top goal scorer!
Cavalier continued to dominate throughout the half although it was evident Adam Bewley had been watching far too many Harry Kane videos and missed a few chances just like his idol (including an open goal)
Half time 1-0
The new formation of 4-5-1 was working well as it had a lot of pre season and the midfield trio of Scott, Roger and Blanny (who despite pushing 40 showed no signs of slowing down) were enjoying the majority of possession and the cavalier looked to be heading towards a win.
The second half began much like the first with cavalier controlling and it wasn't long before Young decided to make some changes, unselfishly bringing himself off, with what later turned out to be a broken toe, he walked off the field a legend, giving youngster Jamie Robinson a chance and Matt hale was replaced by big summer signing Ashton.
The subs worked hard and it wasn't long before another big signing all the way from the buscots Adam bewley managed to score his first for the team and relieve any remaining pressure in the game.
It didn't take long for the flood gates to open and once again that man Adam bewley fired home sending the crowd into an uneasy cheer, mixed with delight for the goal but disbelief that Youngs long standing top goal scorer record was broken....... He was nearly subbed!!!
Skipper Leigh Blanchard and Dan Rance made way for the remaining subs Chris underwood and James butler who made immediate impacts resulting in James butler almost adding to the tally.
Everyone continued to work hard and jack lenaghan having moved from left wing to left back continued to work hard and impressed despite his love of weird vegetables and gear sticks up the bum.
As the game pressed on cavalier were awarded a free kick inside the opposition box, Scott Stroud took on the challenge and fired home into the top corner equalling Dave young's impressive record.
Carl Ledbury had an easy game covering in goal and must have at times felt like taking a nap with the big units of Michael stone and Andy Holman clearing up everything calne had to offer.
An impressive win and a happy team, temporarily top of the league.
