Spencer's Match Report (edited by Patto):

Boots started well and dominated for pretty much the whole 90 minutes on what was a very boggy, energy sapping pitch. Indeed we created a number of chances in the first half which included a goal at the back post for Rob C which was dubiously ruled out by a very very late offside flag. Their linesman was later relieved of his duties by the referee given his lack of ability!

However it was Brooks who took the lead and held on till half time. A back pass from Simon was sliced clear by Neil and it fell unfortunately at the feet of their left midfielder who slotted the ball into the empty net. It was rough justice for Boots. At half time we stressed that we didn’t need to panic and that the goals would come as we were dominating the game.

It didn’t take long in the second half for us to get level and indeed in front. A break down the right between Patto and Neil Taylor led to the ball running across their box. Rob C chased the ball down and their player steamed through him despite Rob running away from the goal. It was a stonewall penalty, which Neil Taylor scored despite the lack of a penalty spot!

A matter of minutes later a terrific through ball from Rob C evaded 3 of their defenders and found Kieron who calmly took the ball around the keeper and slotted it into the empty net. "That was one hell of a team talk!" exclaimed the Brooks Captain.

We dominated the next 25 minutes and created a number of chances with Ian not yet having to clean his boots as he failed to score again when put through (twice!) However we got our deserved third goal as a quick free kick to Kieran saw Patto's first-time cross/shot from the left fall to Rich Sweetman at the back post who slotted it in from 2 yards.

The remaining 10 minutes were closely fought as the match turned quite scrappy, we were fairly fortunate not to concede a goal but held on and again maybe should have got another one for ourselves. There are still things to work on, BUT it was one of our most dominant performances of the season.

The match also saw the return of Rowan Stakcinquiekise9iz to the pitch as every decision was met with a yell and a mini-pitch invasion to remonstrate!!
