BIFC returned to league action with a good away win against a decent Leam Rec side.
The pitch was rock hard and represented a botanical version of Caz's arse, Wembley it wasn't. With boots changed to moulded all around, the game got underway and Leam Rec were making the extra man count in midfield with the best of the game in the opening stages. Slightly against the run of play we took the lead through the resurgent Cooooooper. A long ball out of defence was contested by Aaron and a defender, falling nicely for Tom to beat the keeper to the ball and slide home for 1-0! for good measure he left his boot in for the keeper to get a kick on the chin, very subtle! Trinder skied a good chance for a second and we were starting to get on top of the game. A deserved second soon came.Maltbys floated ball was meant for Aaron but overshot the little fella, and another little fella ran on and chipped the keeper for 2-0! A little piece of revenge for Jordan following his injury here in the cup game earlier this season.
For some reason the atmosphere changed and tempers were begininning to fray all over the shop. Not least within Skidders 80's faux moose hair denim where the expletives were being vented at a furious rate, probably for the best as Bez was struggling to get two words out without sounding a drink addled Carro. Talking of which, Nath gifted them a goal by deciding not clear a backpass and instead waiting to be tackled by the striker, 2-1!
Back down the other end and a two goal lead was restored before the break when a thrown in to Coopers feet saw the defender sprawl all over him and give away a soft penalty which Benno duly converted with consumate ease, 3-1!. Half Time
The second half started as the first and Rec were enjoying possesion galore. Not surprisingly they scored again, although it looked offside when the ball was headed back across (and forward) to the striker stood on the line for a tap in. Malcytime got his flag up, but was overruled by referee much to the disgust of many of the lime green warriors, 3-2!
Nath then redeemed himself with a fantastic save when he looked well beaten, bringing most of the goalnet down with him as he dived backwards to claw the ball away, really good goalkeeping. With Titch on for Aaron, Whitey then came on for Beach in a move that changed the game. From the restart the keeper scuffed his goalkick straight to Coops and the white Cambodian burst forward for another left foot finish, 4-2! and that should of been it...but of course it wasn't. A low cross into the box was converted by Rec for 4-3! to set up a testing last ten. The berves were settled though when Maltby's free kick was met with a bullet header from Boycott ( see Leek Wooton away last season.) into the corner for 5-3!
Bez made a rare appearance for the last few minutes at right back, and made a great time wasting contribution by shinning the ball into touch rather than the orthodox, but much maligned, holding it up in the corner
