A nervous Allsorts took to the pitch to the delight of the spectators, the anticipation of the friendly got a bit too much for the WAGS who were too tense to watch and stayed at home.
After a rousing team talk by Chris and Sam in which the famous Kipling Poem was quoted:
“If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run –
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Mason (that could be a typo error..)”
Like gladiators they took to the pitch for the first time.
The allsorts took a bit of time sizing the opposition up and Dom had a great chance in the opening minute, but unfortunately a nasty bobble saw the ball fly into orbit. This was a number of chances falling to the Allsorts in the first half.
Unsurprisingly the opening goal fell to James who after some good build up play from Dom and Chris led to Sam putting a side splitting ball through to James on the right and majestically slotted it into the right hand corner.
The second didn’t take long to come and after a “SWITCH” from Dom and Sam had bamboozled the defence, Dom played the ball through to Sam who was able to finish the move brilliantly.
2-0 HT
The half time talk came for more of the same with a bit more composure in front of goal.
In the second half the opposition changed keeper, a risky strategies seeing as it was his first game ever in goal for the team. However, it was stroke of tactical genius as the keeper pulled off a string of world class saves, much to bemusement of the Allsorts teams.
The crowd began to get restless with many actually preferring to watch the game on the pitch next door. On a side note those fans will not be allowed in the ground again (unless they want to watch us which would be fine).
Disaster struck as TGTBT equalised after a throw out from Simon ended up at the feet of the first half keeper who took full advantage of the sleepy Allsorts and put it in the back of the net.
GAME ON!
The Allsorts were hanging on as the goal scorer had two more opportunities but Simon pulled off a brilliant save to keep the Allsorts a head.
FT 2-1 Allsorts
A historic day saw the Allsorts win the first game in the clubs history, more success to follow for the Allsorts!
