Home league match played on 02 February 2014.
Kicked off at 12:00 PM

The Galacticos county cup game was again called off for the 4th consecutive week due to the terrible weather, Lucky the manager was able to arrange a league game against BTSFC on an astro pitch in Colchester (luckily the full 90 mins was played as the goal posts were falling down!)

The Galacticos welcomed Harry Stoneham to the side for his debut and he was thrown straight in as Adam Ratcliffe, Aaron Williams and ace man Jamie Adams were missing, new signing Marti Cullum was on hand as his debut in the previous game lasted 2 minutes due to injury. To accommodate the players Witham changed there formation to a 4-1-2-2-1 (confusing!)

The game eventually got underway after the ref was delayed in horrendous traffic and Witham took an early lead on 4 minutes when Stoneham kept up his record of scoring in every game when he scrambled home the ball after a cross from McCormack. The Galacticos then pressed hard at BTSC with Jamie Lawes, Kane Orr, Ryan McCormack and Jack Stoneham all going close but on 27 minutes it was 2-0 and a goal worth waiting for. It was route one football as Cannock went long direct to Orr who turned the defender and from 35 yards smashed the ball home on the half volley. 5 minutes later Orr got his second of the game when a shot from McCormack rebounded back to him and he crossed to Orr who tapped in from 5 yards. Before half time the away side gave themselves some hope when a mix up in the Galacticos back four left the BTSC striker 12 yards out who nicely dinked the ball home.

HALF TIME WITHAM GALACTICOS 3 BRAINTREE TOWN SUPPORTERS 1

It took 7 minutes from the restart for Witham to extend there lead when Humphreys picked the ball up 25 yards out, beat 2 defenders and superbly curled the ball into the far right hand corner to get his first goal of the season, 5 minutes later captain Yeo picked the ball up just over 20 yards out and blasted the ball home. Just after the hour mark Orr got his hat trick after good work from Lawes and the home side was 6-1 up. Cullum then got on the scoresheet minutes after being introduced after a ball from Orr found him in the penalty box and Cullum made no mistake, It was then Orr again 2 minutes later getting his fourth and Galacticos eighth! The away teams spirits was now completely broken and Galacticos looked like they would score at every opportunity but the goalkeeper had other ideas and was still pulling off numerous and eye catching saves. On 75 minutes Murphy who was having a solid game at the back as always hit a long ball over the top to Orr who found himself one on one and coolly slotted home to get his fifth. 2 minutes later it was a double hat trick for Orr when Yeo blasted a shot goalwards and it hit Orr on the back and went in...they all count!! It was now 10-1 with 13 minutes to play. On 78 Minutes it was debutant Harry Stoneham who got on the scoresheet after Yeo drove into the box and unselfishly squared the ball to H. on 83 minutes it was 12-1 when Jack Stoneham got his second of the game when he blasted home from 10 yards

FINAL SCORE WITHAM GALACTICOS 12 BRAINTREE TOWN SUPPORTERS 1

A brilliant result against a team that took us to extra time early in the season and a strong performance considering key players were missing. The squad is now showing some real depth and with a few players playing out of position not much more can be asked. The whole team deserves a special mention as the ratings suggest but the man of the match award goes to Kane Orr who smashed in a club record of 6 goals in the game. A fantastic achievement.

Good stuff boys and please continue to perform this way and give me a major selection headache :)
