First & second in div 5 met in a stokes cup game with a posting from CSKA Carnabys suggesting that a shock result was on the cards! How right they were!
On a bright & sunny Sunday, very much the calm after the storm, the game kicked off in brilliant sunshine at breakneck speed. Trinderbox were caught napping early on when under pressure from a real scrum of players, Adam Corbett couldn’t reach a corner which appeared to go in direct, from the Brookside of the stadium. This was only 3 minutes into the game and gave Carnabys the advantage and a shock result was on....... for all of 2 minutes.
This was because Gomez sent through a peach of a ball for Wayne Dean to fizzle in a net buster that the keeper hardly saw at the Eastenders of the stadium. 5 minutes gone & 1-1. Six minutes gone and 2-1 to Trinderbox when Wayne “Dixie “ Dean, after a solo run to outstrip the cska defence to score his second.
The game continued at its frenetic pace when Hit man George put Gomez through on eight minutes for 3-1. Yes sir, a shock result was on the way, but not the sort predicted by CSKA (Chase Some Knock Away Carnabys).
On 10 minutes, Brez Brewin got in on the act from a mix up at the corner , giving him a nose bleed for so far up for 4-1. James Samwell being the provider from a slide rule pass. The betting school were at a loss to predict how many goals for the first half, let alone full time.
A pause for breath now as it took another 8 minutes before George found Gomez in front of the North (Coronation) stand and he made no mistake from the angle of the box, on 18 minutes for 5-1.
At this point the game went into a quiet patch, and Adam Corbett made an outstanding save to push the ball over. CSKA were not finished! The pantomime was in full flow, Oh yes it was! Paul Goodrum was slipped a thru’ ball by Gomez to score & make it 6-1 in only 32 minutes. With another goal for the Eastenders to cheer.
And still there was no let up . “G” was given a golden chance by Wayne for 7-1 on 39 minutes. Then in 45 +1 minutes Wayne again turned provider for Gomez to complete a hat trick on 45 minutes to make it 8-1 and 3 goals by the man who was hotter than Jordan Katie Price, in 27 minutes.
Half time came for a pause in breath. Stuart Walker , the ref put in an expenses claim for a new pen. And it took 10 minutes before Gomez got his 4th and the team’s ninth goal on 55 minutes, with Paul this time the provider. Al Starkey “the smoothie” and Mike Hyper Goodrum gave way to Seb & Adam Littlewood after a mix up gave a second consolation goal to Carnabys for 9-2 0n 68 minutes.
On 74 minutes Luke came on and made an immediate impact with his searing pace and dynamism, almost scoring with his first touch. Wayne “Torvell &” Dean then skated the ball to Calvin Marsden to crack one in on 75 minutes for 10-2. What a rout!!
On 76 minutes Gomez spotted “g” all alone.. so picked him out for 11-2! And strangely no gaols in the last 15 minutes. And that was the real shock of this result. Same team next week for another Shock! Yea Merry Christmas Carnabys, we’ll do it “Home & Away” just like any “Good Neighbours”. You’ll feel that bad that you’ll need the “Young Doctors” to put you right from the “Peak Practice”.
