With Hurricane Irene on her way, it was apt that Trinderbox Fc were playing AFC Hurricane.
From the start the league called up and asked our manager to Ref our own game. Not a good start for the Alliance league, after introducing 3 new divisions and for a div 2 team not to take priority with league ref is appalling.
Some fantastic football was played from Trinderbox and with tempers rising from AFC Trinderbox kept their composure.
21 mins into the game Trinderbox was rewarded a penalty only to be sent over the bar by Leigh Grant. It would have been a great 3 points if this was rugby but it’s not.
7 mins later Chris Bodycote stepped up and put himself on the score sheet with some fancy footwork around three defenders and a shake of the net with the ball.
The 2nd half saw tempers rising even more, AFC could not keep their composure at all. It looked like they wanted piggy backs from the ref as they were always on his back. This did not stop them from bagging a goal from a corner (80mins), high in the air, Irene playing her part in this sent the ball directly down to the back post and then to be tapped in.
85mins AFC scored another. leaving the final score 2-1 to AFC.
Some great football and conduct was enforced by Trinderbox Fc in this game and it does not do the final score justice.
