A long long time ago, on a fitbaw pitch not so far a way. A skinny wee Scot who used to run as little as possible and not header a ball returned and added a few more traits to his (flawed) game.
Hall lined up with a full team this week including a goalkeeper and four subs. After 5 weeks out The Jock, came back in a left back. Much to Casey's delight.
A great start for Hall, comfortable in possession they played their way up the park with ease and bagged two goals in the first 3 minutes. It's safe to say the first goal all started with the left back Imrie. Receiving the ball out wide from the mediocre Robinson, he played a crisp ball into the feet of Gibson. Turning his man, Gibby played a give and go with the wide man then slotted the ball through for Reagan who finished with ease.
Straight from the kick off hall won possession and made their way forward again. An attack that ,again, started with Imrie almost led to a second goal for hall. Linking with the mediocre Robinson he bombed forward(lethargic jog) and made an outstanding run into the box. Only to be let down by a shit ball from the mediocre Robinson. Nothing to do with Imrie not knowing where and why he was that far up the pitch.
A second goal was just around the corner. This time 'the tiger' Jamie Casey latched onto another through ball from Gibson. Normally a full back but asked to do a job upfront by the gaffer this week. Casey slotted home and made it 2-0. Both assists coming from Gibby, who seems to like setting up goals this year rather than scoring them.
Then it went to shit. Barum Top somehow made their way back into the game through some terrible defensive mistakes from Hall. The outstanding Imrie under complete surprise from the shanked goal kick from keeper Aaron, that was ment to go to the other side of the pitch, had an awful touch that played the striker in on goal. Then another wayward clearance from the keeper (wonder why he isint writing this report, I think he works 70 hour weeks...) fell out the air straight to the strikers boot, who volleyed it first time into an open net. A good goal that even our keeper watched fall into the open net.
4-2 down, 20 minutes played. Hall started again, and kept the scoresheet as is, and made their way back into the game. Their hard work was rewarded with a penalty in the 40th minute. The mediocre Robinson falling over like a sack of totties. Up stepped Drakes, net still in tack, 4-3.
Hall started the second half well and began to dominate again. Creating chance after chance it and finally getting the equaliser through Regan. It's becoming a trademark of his to score from a half volley from the edge of the area. Pressing even more Hall brought on a more creative spark in the jobless, I mean, Jason Clissett. With Imrie keeping it stable at the back it was only a matter of time before hall got the lead. And on the 63rd minute, drakes with a lovely ball into the box was attacked, met and scored by Gibson. 4-5.
Now....what could have been an outstanding set peice minutes later was completely misread by Gibson. Imrie with the ball for a throw in, was attempting the new 'Highland Fling' routine that had defiantly NOT been worked on in training. Murmurs of don't foul throw it from Drakes ringing on his ears, or the ringing might have been cause he attempted to head the ball seconds earlier. Imrie took his run up and the less said about what happened next the better.
Imrie only had one more contribution left to make in his return to Hall. Relentless pressing from an opposition throw (who very rudely took the throw in properly and in a more recognised routine) Imrie won the ball back outside is own box and it made its way to the feet of Clisset. Who, pinged an outstanding ball up the park to the mediocre Robinson. His touch was mediocre to take him past the defender and his finish was even more so as he dinked the keeper in an obvious miss-kick. What a come back, 4-6.
Man of the match Imrie was then subbed for another forgien import, Jan. This ment Casey was pushed back to a more familiar full back position.
Jan's impact was almost instant as he latched onto a cross from the mediocre Robinson and nodded in with 10 minutes remaining. 4-7
As the defence were missing the solid Imrie a fifth goal was conceeded late on, enviabley. But Hall wrapped the game up with another mediocre Robinson and Jan combination in the dieing minutes.
Final score 5-8. Some excellent performances in the team this week. But the man of the match was awarded to the mediocre Robinson who bagged a goal and set three up for his teammates in an outstanding... Ly mediocre performance.
