Your Goalscorers: D Choudhury x 2 G Gremayoko x 1 E Hughes x 1 (Pen)
Just what the Fozzers needed after last weeks disappointing defeat to the Undateables, the boys in Yellow put on a masterclass this week to show up a weak Sex, Drugs and Carlton Cole FC. 3 quality goals and a well taken penalty saw The Fozzers over the line, in a game that was at time marred by poor officiating and violent conduct on both sides.
Starting from the back, 'The Cat' Holloway had a decent performance and looked solid throughout with a number of good saves. His distribution made a marked improvement this week finding players in plenty of space. He did make a poor mistake to gift the opposition their second goal, but was good for the rest.
'The Veteran' Kirby once again assumed his role as the enforcer at the back and again had a typically robust performance. Deployed on the left, he made a number of good tackles and played out from the back well. He also gave Scallon, taking on defensive duties this week, a lot of confidence and hopefully we can see a defensive partnership blossom. Speaking of Scallon, the big man had a good game and made some important challenges in his new found defensive role. Although shaky at the start, a near own goal was saved well by Holloway, the lad clearly grew in to the game and is blossoming as a defender. Deployed on the right, his partnership with Choudhury further up the pitch led to the first goal.
Taking on a role in the engine room, Hughes returned to the side that sorely missed the playmaker last week. Controlling the game from start to finish, Hughes was a close contender for Man of the Match and also had the confidence to step up and score The Fozzers game-winning penalty. Hopefully the lad can be a bit more consistent with his attendance, as the Fozzers do miss his passing and movement when hes away.
On the left wing was Jamie 'Bagsman' Howe, which dropped out of his usual number 9 spot to try his hand at something different. He too had an outstanding game and was unlucky to score on a number of occasions, with a goal alluding him. Tenacious as ever, the lad is a constant threat and also had the energy to play another 20 minutes for rivals Bumfica later on. A top man.
Choudhury started on the other wing and had a great game. The crump artist put in a number of dangerous runs in behind and found his feet to put away two very good goals. The lad won his first Powerleague MOM and is the first player in Fozzers history to win back to back Reporters' MOM. Well done Danny, keep it up niff stain.
Gremayoko started up top but found himself dropping back in to a more central role and letting Howe and Choudhury play off him. The lad looked phenomenal today and again was another close pick for Man of the match. He was getting stuck in left right and centre and like Hughes, controlled parts of the game. A man who clearly thrives in the middle, the fan favourite will be regretting his earlier comments about being 'bigger than the club', and although the player has apologised, the fans forum want him out. Baz from Tile Hill said 'He's worse than that Hickman, disgrace, don't care how good his left peg is I want that goblin looking traitor out'.
Unorthodox Emery made a brief appearance off the bench and did a zubidah in the corner. Well done Olly.
The big news this week is the continued absence of the Gask-Clarke brothers. 3 weeks and counting is poor from the Jamaicans and a suspected mid week excursion to the south coast will do nothing but put them in Scallon's bad books. They even promised their shirts for the disabled make a wish child Olly but then laughed, spat and played Thotiana as he went to collect them. Horrible lads, really terrible.
Also absences from Darryl (Injured), Thomas (Tanning Competition) and Anosczcenko (Nitty) left the Fozzers looking thin, but it obviously didn't matter.
What a day what a result.
