The Brit went into the game seeking revenge for a cruel 3-2 loss in the reverse fixture against Brinton Arms, Aka Campo’s fweeends. The game lacked any real quality throughout on what was a difficult and windy pitch, for some reason Brinton Arms decided to play with a bowling ball, which seemed a strange choice of match ball (think I am concussed)
Brinton Arms took the lead after a few Brit tackles failed to make any real impact, Brinton player broke though, one on one with Si and managed to poke it though his legs to give the home side the advantage. It didn’t take long for Brit to respond. A ball played into the box which wasn’t cleared fell to Nort who struck it excellently on his weak foot about 15 yards out, arrowed into the far post.
No real chances for the rest of the half for either team, it was more a battle, Oakes having the war wounds to prove it.
A rousing half time team talk from Antione Sibierski(Russ)
The Brit were on top in a very scrappy game and from the side it wasn’t a great watch but there was plenty of graft on show.
Brit went ahead after a great flick from Mr Anderson found Oakes whose early cross trying to find the onrushing Nort, managed to fly straight in over the keeper, this becoming a Dave Oakes ™
The game continues along the same lines very scrappy and Brit having to dig in to keep the home side at bay, Si having a relatively quiet game and the change in shape at back looking solid, Heeks and Campo dealing with the majority of attacks coming their way. Morgan, who needs to invest in some new boots having a solid as ever game Mr 6.5. Hipkiss moving to Left back with the absence of Nai had a really good game never being threatened and very good in possession. Nort and Irv for the most winning the midfield battle.
Third goal coming from an Evans corner, ball wasn’t cleared fell to Oakes who shifted it onto his left and put it into the bottom corner with a really good finish. 3-1.
Mr Anderson who had worked tirelessly but wasn’t getting the rub of green made way for Cox and a switch to the familiar 433 to try and see out the game. Brit having to see out a number of set pieces, far too many free kicks being given away but Brit managed to clear their lines time and time again. Si making a brilliant reaction save after Brintion forward managed to take the ball down, turn and fire a shot from 7 yards but the alert Hipkiss made the brilliant save to keep the two goal advantage. Ali Ali Gamble came on for Evans. The fourth goal coming from a defensive clearance from Oakes, Collins collecting the ball half way and while being tracked by two players managed to work into the box and after bring pulled back the ref pointing to the spot where Brit top scorer Oakes slotted home and finished the game off.
4-1 Win.
Brit play away to Royal Exchange Youth at Edgecliffe next week.
