After no wins in three we thought that this home match against another team that was new to us might be the perfect way to put that right and boy did we and in some style. In the first 10 minutes St Joseph's had the upper hand after winning five corners but none of them trouble either Ben in goal or the defence and to be honest that was how the rest of the game went for both parties. We were slow getting into our stride but when we did we simply outstanding. Ben T got the first of our NINE when he had a free kick about 25 yards out and he bent it around the wall and in off the left hand post to put us on the way. In the process Ben carried on his impressive form with scoring in every game so far this season. Rooney who has also been in sparkling form got the second after he was surrounded by 3 defenders and managed to wriggle through and plant a shot into the far corner. We were in complete control by now and Ben A hadn't really had to make a save. Half time was approaching and Ben T doubled his tally for the match when he slammed home after a scramble inside the box. The half time break was as happy as it had been for a while and it wasn't just down to the scoreline but it had alot to do with the fact that there was no arguing and every player was enjoying their football. We started the second half as we finished the first with a goal as Rooney slotted home a penalty with ease to get his second of the match. Rooney and Ben were a right handful where the defence had no reply. Jack got his name on the scoresheet when a loose ball came his way about 25 yards out and with the outside of the right boot unleashed an first time effort that flew up high into the net leaving the keeper no chance. Believe it or not the sixth goal was just a bit better than the previous when Gary received a throw from the right just on the corner of the 18 and somehow manged to twist his body and ute a mid air scissor kick which flew into the top left corner. It would be hard to find a better goal this season. Gary still had time to complete his hat-trick with two well taken goals and sub Dean finished the rout when Gary put him through and he was one on one and rounded the keeper to tap home. This scoreline was totally deserved but it was also important to keep a clean sheet to help steady the suspect looking goal difference that was doing us no favours. All through the team there was strong performances with the back five in total comand an solid. The two in the midfield ran the game and helped out all over where needed. I was pleased with both wingers who not only put a shift in going forward but also came back to help the full backs. At the moment the two up top can do nothing wrong with 14 goals between them in 5 games, and we hope they can take that form into Sunday's grudge match against 'rivals' Sutcliffe who after a slow start have picked up two good victiories so we will have to be at our best again. Im sure if we can perform anywhere like we did this week the 3 points should be ours.
