Kicked off at 10:30 AM

ANOTHER BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE!

BUT AT THE END OF THE GAME, WE SAW IT AS ANOTHER POINT GAINED RATHER THAN 2 POINTS DROPPED!

Taxi again was forced into changes due to the lack of players turning up or unavailable for our kick off’s on Sunday mornings. “The morning after the night before”!

Taxi had to make do with the bare 11 players so NO substitutes and which saw players being moved out of position. This is typical of us all season as we have not had the same starting defence for 2 games running.

We didn’t start at all brightly and after only 40 second we found ourselves 1 down.   Elmstead had a throw in which I failed to intercept from their striker. He whipped the ball across the 6 yard box, which saw Barry slide in and turn it into his own net. WHAT A START!

If I thought things couldn’t get any worse for me or the team, another mistake by me found us 2-0 down. It came from a long punt up the pitch, which their striker flicked on and again I failed to clear. Elmstead found themselves 2-0 up and they hadn’t even started playing football. I THOUGHT THE GROUND WAS GONA SWOLLOW ME UP! If we had a sub I would of then, asked to be subbed before we threw away the game!

We did create atleast one chance in the 1st 20mins. Stocky picked out a screamer of a ball which put Ben through on goal. He done everything right but saw his effort swing inches wide of the left had post.

Elmstead knew that chance could have given us the kick we needed; all we had to do is play the football we knew we could. But again a defensive mistake cost us dearly. Ben keeper played a quick goal kick out to Terry, a bit too quick for Terry liking. He wasn’t expecting the ball and lost it to their winger who ran at us in defence and shot from the 18 yard box into the bottom corner. 3 DEFENSIVE MISTAKES 3 GOALS! CREDIT TO THE FINISHING OF ELMSTEAD.

We had to pick up our game otherwise we could have been on the receiving end of an embarrassing thrashing. We responded well and gained alot space on our right side which Darren exposed well all game. We got our break-through when Ben T picked out Darren inside the box, who finish as calmly as ever. 3-1 and Elmstead were on the ropes!

Within 3 minute we made it 3-2. Again Ben T was at the heart of it as usual. On the edge of the box he managed to wiggle through countless challenges and get his shot away. The ball took afew deflections and fell kindly for Stocky, who headed into the bottom corner with ease. 3-2 and the fight back was well and truly on!

The half time chat gave everyone a chance to have their say in what’s going wrong and what’s going right, if anything! If we had a sub at this point I’m sure Taxi would have had to change Barry. From the out-set of the game he was struggling with sore ribs. But because we didn’t have any, he soldier on for the team.

We started the 2nd half as we finished the 1st. In the 1st 5 minutes we could have taken the lead. Darren went 1 on 1 from an exquisite lobbed ball from Rooney, but failed to hit the target. Rooney could of have added to his tally for the season, but it got saved off the line by an Elmstead defender. IT WERENT GONA BE OUR DAY AGAIN!

The game became a bit boring with nobody creating much in the attacking aspect. We just couldn’t play football like we can, I don’t know what was to blame, formation, players or was it motivation. The only person who looked like they had the motivation was Ben T in the centre of the park, who won nearly everything in there.

We got our break through, when Rooney won the ball down in the opposition corner. He looked up and found the advancing Terry who crossed a peach into the box for Ben T to nod home easily. GOT TO SAY IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE CROSS, ABSOLUTLY PERFECT!

3 – 3 we thought it’s got to be our game to lose. But in typical fashion we threw it away. Elmstead latched onto some slack passing on our wing. They crossed the ball, their striker rose well and from 18 yards headed the ball, which hit the cross bar and went in!! GUTTED! AGAIN WE PRESSED THE SELF DESTRUCT BUTTON!

We responded well and got our leveler through Darren. After the goal Wayne pushed up top and made himself a nuisance. We had ran out of ideas by this time so we just pumped the ball forward, which luckily Wayne flicked it over his shoulder for Darren to go through and chip the keeper. 4 – 4 DONT KNOW IF WE DESERVED THAT OR NOT!

4 – 4 FINAL SCORE

MAYBE IF WE HAD OUR FULL SQUAD THERE ON THE DAY THE OUT COME WOULD OF BEEN DIFFERENT? BUT AFTER TRAILING THROUGHTOUT THE GAME A POINT MIGHT GO ALONG WAY AT THE END OF THE SEASON!!!
