A chance to pick up some points for Resolven in what was their second home game of the season, and again starting the brighter in a game with some early half chances for Steffen, shorty, morgan and wheeler. It wasnt long before the pressure paid off when a pin point cross from a corner found wheeler unmarked at the front post and he headed home past the keeper 1-0
The lead should have been doubled less than ten minutes later when some dogged closing down from Steffen saw him intercept the defender and the resulting deflection fell into the path of wheeler who took a touch past the defender before being hacked down! Penalty. Shorty stepped up to take it after two successfull penalties last weekend hit a weak shot down the middle that the keeper managed to fling an arm at it and tip it over. would this come back to bite us in the ass?
sure enoguh it was, even though Resolven looked the most likely to score next, it was Mond FC who scored from a long throw-in to the back post where the player headed into the corner of the goal. 1-1
Resolven were looking to try and regain the lead with some more half chances when on a rare attack about 35mins into the game one of the Mond boys went down claiming a broken leg and it wasn't long after Speedy had smashed at the cost of a cut on his head, but the game was haulted and an amblumance was called eventually, after no one had called it at the first time of asking. With the player unable to move there was nothing else to do but wait and it was close to 40minutes before the injured player decided he could be moved now and he was and the game could restart again with him off the pitch to wait for the amblumance.
It was this long delay which really cost us as we had lost all the momentum we had going before the incident and had switched off as a few minutes after the restart Mond FC scored when a second ball wasnt dealt with and the striker chested and volleyd a wonderful strike into the net over the helpless Speedy. 1-2
We had fallen to pieces at this point and Mond FC were to inflict more misery when a corner was cleared to the edge of the box only for the striker to socre his second and another belter a low powerful drive into the bottom of the corner. 1-3
Resolven were really on the ropes now and this long stoppage really looking like it had affected the team, and it was to get worse, Mond FC scoring again from a set-piece. 1-4 and in the space of 10minutes Resolven had shipped in 3goals and couldn't really understand how or what had just happend.
There was one chance for Resolven to pull one back before the whistle when Glen played Steffen in and took an early shot from the edge of the box but dragged the ball wide
HALF TIME: Resolven FC 1 - 4 Mond FC
With an up hill challenge now the second half began like the first with with Resolven dominating and creating chances, not long in and Resolven claw a goal back when a swinging cross from Jamie found Grant who shinned the ball right into the corner of the goal 2-4
The come back was really on now and Resolven score again to cut the deficit to one when another corner from Shorty bounced front post to Wheeler who took a touch turned and shot the ball across goal into the top right corner. 3-4
Resolven now completely controlling the game and Grant winning every header at the back it was only matter of time before equalizer came and it was a massive header from Grant at the back that lead to it when the ball bounced forward past the defenders and Steffen ran onto it and finished confidently passed the keeper 4-4
with around 20mins left itt looked certain that Resolven would go onto win this game, John Best was trying to beat a record for most offsides given in a game and Resolven would have scored again had it not been for a bad call when shorty scored with the second bite of the cherry after the keeper had saved the first attempt.
Wheeler missed 'an easy chance' when Steffen had got a cross in from the right but the striker miss timing the flight of the ball and missing it all together.

were having chance after chance but were not quite taking them (too many to remember)(yes i missed a few) but there was a late effort from Steffen who's finish didnt quite match up the the run.
But it wasn't quite going to fall for us

A strange old game, good effort to come back second half, but a game we should have won.
