An away game down llandarcy on the 3G pitch in hot conditions was the fixture for Resolven FC. A couple of changes to the team that beat Harp with Sheady replacing Steffan who was away and Chambers slotting into the midfield for the absent Jaime.
A solid but cautious start for Resolven who were getting to grips with the 3G pitch and actually controlled the play for the first 20minutes keeping the ball well and creating the better opportunitys infront of goal with shorty hitting a good chance high and wide and sheady missing the target after the ball fell kindly to him inside the box.. and it wasnt long until Resolven took the lead when John Bwtt rolled a neat ball into Wheeler who does a smart turn and draws the foul.. PENALTY! Up steps Shorty who confidently smashes the ball down the middle and the keeper dives to his left. 0-1 and deserved on the run of play.
With under 10mins left until half-time and it looked like Resolven were crusing but then it all went mad because Cambrian scored from a nothing ball booted up top and a lack of comunication between dai.d and speedy allowed the striker to steal in and poke the ball home 1-1
and then almost immediatley Resolven were inches from retaking the lead when a nice run by shead starting out wide and ending up in the box and almost squeezing the ball home but for the rebound to fall nicely to Wheeler at the edge of the box who side foots a powerful shot hitting the underneath of the croosbar and bouncing down on the line for the keeper to gratefuly gather.
It was all Cambrian from there on to half time with Resolven on the ropes and not able to string a pass together or kick a tin can and minutes from the whistle Cambrian were doing quite the opposite when a 15+ pass,pass,pass build up play from them eventully found its way out wide and for the stiker to volley home the resulting cross into the top corner 2-1. You dont save those.
Half-time: Cambrian FC 2 - 1 Resolven FC
Cambrian were the more settled now but Resolven had settled abit better after the 10minutes of madness but the home side to were to double the their lead when a long ball down the line saw the keeper get infront of Grant and not looking like he was going anywhere lobbed Speedy who probably didnt need to come out as far as he did. 3-1
There was abit of a quiet spell before Chambers and Glen played some neat football before one of them swang a cross intowards Sheady who was bundled over by the defender, stonewall PENALTY.. Shorty steps up again with the same result low and hard to the left. 3-2

Looking like we could grab something out of this game now Lee had a long range effort dealt with by the keeper, Morgan had an even longer effort almost catching the keeper off guard but managed to scramble back intime to pluck it out of the air
But the next goal was to go to Cambrian when a free kick was cleared away only for the second attempt to deflect of a defender and fall nicley to their play who from six yards out looked certain to score but some how Speedy saved but the rebound fell even nicer for him the lucky player to tap in. 4-2

Resolven got pulled it back to within a goal again when Glen played a ball to Wheeler outside the box who then turned and hit a shot deflecting off the defender and looping up into the air perfect for Substitute Carl to head back across the keeper and into the net 4-3.
Anychance of a comeback looked to dead when Sheady who was now playing at wing back brought down the winger inside the box. Penalty. Goal. 5-3
late into the game Wheeler missed an inviting oppotrunity scuffing the ball wide of the post when he should have done better after some good play from Ashley and a lovely through ball.
Before taking the next opportunity when Resolven showed they can to play nice passing football starting at the back with Speedy playing it to Dai.T who played the ball inside to Grant who found Lee in the middle of the park who played the ball forward to Carl who flicked on for Wheeler who from outside the box let the ball bounce before volleying across goal and sneaking into the far left of the goal. 5-4
Final Score: Cambrian FC 5 - 4 Resolven FC
A close game that could of gone either way with both teams having spells of the ball and playing good football. But silly mistakes and goals costing us again, but plenty of positives to take forward and build on. #wegoagain
