Not disapointed but gutted.
Real Rosehill outplayed Rottingdean Village Sunday who are 45 places higher than them in round 2 of the SSFL trophy played at Rottingdean.
Going into the game with no Lee Smith, hamstring, Mark Davis, holiday, Dan Shrubb and Max at a golf competition we knew the game would be tough.
Rosehill had chances in the first half and were unlucky not to convert. Then against the run of play and their first shot on goal Rottingdean scored.
Rosehill played some classy football and defended resolutely and went into the break 1 down.
Coming back from the break and a full on team talk the lads were motivated to go out and score within 5 minutes from Charlie Walker.
Rosehill upped their game and had 75% possession and were first to every ball and created more chances once again being really unlucky not to convert.
Heading for penalties the game changed with one terrible decision from the referee who had an excellent game up until 93 minutes when he gave the home team a penalty after a fierce shot that Tom Cotty could not get out of the way of hitting him on his hands that were below his waist. Young Dan deputising for Adam got his hands to it but the score was 2-1.
Rosehill pressed forward and could have snatched a draw but were unlucky again and again. Rottingdean scored again on the break as Rosehill pushed forward.
The score did not reflect the game with Rosehill having over 70% of the play. Rosehill had 8 chances and Rottingdean had 4 so that tells you more about the game.
The best team lost but the Rosehill lads played their hearts out and went for everything and were easily a better side than the Intermediate team.
On another day Rosehill would have, on this display, won comfortably but luck was not on their side, The referee had a great game up until the penalty but football as you know is a funny old game.
GUTTED at the end with the Rosehill players sitting on the ground in disbelief to have lost in such a bad way.
You were brilliant today lads, being unlucky and a poor decison cost us the game.
Great news that we have no game next week as have 6 players injured.
You must remember that the result bore no resemblance to the actual game and need to pick yourselves up and we have every chance to do the DOUBLE again this season.
You are all a credit to Rosehill and I know that you are going to get the luck that you need at times and to play better and better every week.
The future is in our destiny and we all know that you can beat anyone on the day providing you work hard, play well and have the odd decision go for you.
See you at training Tuesday.
