Rosehill went into this game with 2 good wins under their belt against a good Pink Flamingos side who had never beaten Rosehill in 5 starts but had a good young squad of players.
Rosehill knew this was going to be a tough game and started slowly against Pink Flamingos who were well up for their first fixture of the season and were looking to beat Rosehill for the first time in this well contested derby game.
Pink Flamingos had the better of the first 20 minutes and continued to knock the ball about and had a couple of half chances. Rosehill started to get on top on 25 minutes and played their usual pass and move game and getting space on the pitch, particularly the defensive midfielders of Jack and George who started to compete against Pink Flamingos four in midfield.
Rosehill had a couple of chances before Diney picked the ball up from Marky on the edge of the box and clinically scored in the left hand post from a very tight angle. Rosehill continued to press and Pinks had no answer and a couple of great saves kept the Pinks in it at 1-0. With half time looking Ben Stonham did some great work to get behind the Flamingos defence and aimed at inside of the right post only for the Pinks goalkeeper to save it unbelievably.
Rosehill went in at the break 1-0 up and a half time talk and tactical chat from Rosehill coach Gary Derkson saw them go out for the second half with more goals in them.
From a Zac Scott assist o 58 minutes following a team move Diney scored another clinical goal for Rosehill to go two up.
Pink Flamingos started to make mistakes at the back as Rosehill kept closing their defenders down and Rosehill were unlucky not to score another 2 or 3. Rosehill did have the ball in the net on 65 minutes when only an accidental handball with only the keeper to beat kept the score the same.
On 72 minutes Jack Doe found himself in the Flamingos box again to slot the ball into the roof of the net from close in, Diney with the assist.
Defensively again Rosehill looked so strong with Jonsey, Maxxxy, Nathan and Ginge aka Mr Beck and George and Jack were a class apart in front and going forward with the likes of Zac, Diney, Marky and Ben Rosehill were looking to score at every opportunity.
Marky who had an excellent game was replaced by debutant Mark Kielty who came on and played with confidence and a great attitude and did not look out of place in a Rosehill shirt and hope there is more to come from him.
The referee after the game spoke to Gary Derkson and was full of praise for our football and "Can Do Attitude" and said it was some of the best park football he had seen from a side in his 33 years of refereeing.
Onto next week and a tough game against AFC Shoreham who Rosehill lost to in the County Cup semi final last season so revenge is on the cards. The AFC Shoreham captain was at our game for the second time this season today so is obviously worried and he will not take Rosehill for granted.
Man of the Match was Jack Doe for his non stop running, breaking up of play from Flamingos and his goal.
Must say Gary Derkson got it spot on again today and hope I can do the same with washing the kits doing the league and FA reports and hope I have got this report right?
