Real went to 4th placed Parkfield with 6 regular first choice players missing and took to the field with only 11 players and no substitutes. This was an opportunity for some squad players to show their worth and they surely did with a wholehearted gutsy performance.
Parkfield applied the early pressure without really giving Steven Murray deputising in goal for the absent Alex Borg that much to do; however when he was called upon he was up to the task. However the home side deservedly took the lead with a headed goal straight from a corner but Real fought back and were rewarded with a goal when John Hodges neatly converted from Benjamin Wilson's excellent deep freekick.
In the second half Christian swapped the attacking midfield role for the goalie gloves which made for some ahem..interesting viewing for his teammates and the 'fans'.
However, despite some rather decent saves and clearances, there was nothing he could do about Parkfield's second goal.
Real continued to battle and in the later stages of the match, they came back into the game; having made a brilliant goalline clearance, man of the match Matthew Longcharged forward to score the equaliser after the tireless Mike Parkes had had his effort tipped onto the crossbar by Parkfield's goalie.
A well deserved point and a performance to be extremely proud of. Great encouragement as we draw nearer to the end of the season.
