A frustrating day for Real as we let a two goal lead slip. Real were the better side for most of the game and started brightly and were almost camped in the opposition half for the first 20 minutes. The scoring was opened when Danny Galante made an excellent run down the right flank and squared the ball for Clark Roberts to expertly sidefoot Real's opening goal. After more pressure, a teasing cross from Danny G forced the opposition defender to head into the path of Christian who forced the ball with a poacher's finish.
Fairfax then pulled a goal back against the run of play before the break when their striker turned his marker produced a stunning finish that the Real goalie could do nothing about.
In a more evenly contested second half Real fought hard and created a few chances that probably should have killed the game off but didn't take them.
Fairfax's direct play with the long ball over top coupled with some hesitant defending punished Real as we conceded two rather sloppy goals and couldn't find a way back.
Amidst all the chances created Alex Borg produced some fantastic 1 v 1 saves and deservedly won Man of the Match.
Rather unlucky not to get at least a point. We deserved better.
