Bit of a worry before the game as Wilko again looked like he had put his boots on the wrong feet during the warm up. I was seeing a chink in the confidence of this usually brash young man. Unfortunately he carried it into the first 25 mins of the game! After Clarkie gave away an early penalty we were convinced the two had had a tiff and couldn’t quite get their heads in the game. Penalty taken and Malcs mind tricks paid off as they hit the bar. Game on!!
Wilko decided to show us his old magic with a superb finish after 29 mins for a 1-0 lead. Welcome back Wilko. A surging run from Lee down the right set up the first goal. Ando squared the ball across the 18 yard box for Matty and the big dummy then dummied for Wilko to smash home!! After seeing his soul mate smash one in, the smile returned to Clarkies face and we started to play some good football.
A cute finish from Ando shortly after put us 2-0 ahead and enabled us to relax and start playing the ball on the floor.
Upbeat at half time and raring to go our midfield dominated the early stages of the 2nd half and after a silly shove in the face by their number 6 Westlea were down to 10 men. Dylo hit home for a 3-0 lead after some good build up play and continued pressure.
The game took a turn after the referee sent off the Westlea keeper and unfortunately he had to abandon the game after 76 mins although the 3pts will hopefully still be ours.
