A hard fought win for the mighty Gladbach as we move towards the business end of the league.
Plumtree started slow, seemingly content to sit back and watch the dangerous Nottingham United knock the ball around and play some good football. This soon resulted in Nottm Utd taking the lead when their left winger danced through a few tackles before unleashing a belter of a shot outside of the area, beating Roscoe and flying into the top corner.
Plumtree continued to whether the storm (and the wind!) with Matt and Josh trying to take the pressure off by making good runs through the channels to put the pressure back on the opposition. We were unlucky not to be level inside 15 mins when a lovely corner from Jamie found Josh at the back post whose diving header put the ball in the net, only to be ruled out for pushing in the box.
Soon after, our midfield started to take a control of the game, closing down their midfield quickly and strong tackles started to come in. Following a ball over the top, Matt pressurised the Nottm defence, nicking the ball off one, bustled his way through a couple of more challenges to lay the ball onto Josh in the box, who coolly slotted home to level, giving the new signing 3 in 2 games. We continued in the same vain to half time, starting to move the ball well and it was a team move and great work from Josh and Jamie on the right which resulted in Plumtree's second. Jamie once again showed his class in distributing the ball when a lovely cross put dangerously into the box, Matt attempted a Rooney esque overhead kick (failing miserably!), but blushes were spared when Angles followed into the area, controlling the cross well and buried the ball in the back of the net.
The second half was a battling display and Plumtree were supported with the wind. However a spirited Nottm display ensured a close finish. Plumtree's defence on the day though was resolute and limited Nottm's chances to few. A great result against a good team who will surely be there or there about's at the end of the season.
This was one of those games where the whole team worked superbly together and gave it their all. Some notable displays, Dino on his return, hardly missing a tackle or the opportunity to go in hard, Dean Hyde, a terrier in midfield constantly in the Nottm team faces, but Man of the Match goes to Angles. A quality display in midfield, up and down the left wing, attacking and supporting Dino at the back and a great goal to top it off.
