Match Report: KVFC faced Locking park this week. Locking unbeaten in the league and Valley having won there last 3 games it was always going to be a well fought game.
The game started lively and it was only 10 minutes before Valley were in the lead. The ball breaking over to the left & Ben Stanley played a cut back to Dan Andrews on the edge of the 18 yard box. Andrews cutting back past the defender & picking his spot in the top left corner well away from the keeper to make it 1-0. It wasn't long before Locking equalised when a long Diagonal ball over to the right hand side caught Valley on the back foot. The winger able to run through & chipped the ball past Stu Wilson in the Valley goal. Locking had there backs up now & it was another diagonal this time into the feet of the striker, he laid the ball off to his parter who struck the ball into the top corner. Valley soon found themselves falling to pieces quickly when a rash tackle from Ricky Smith caught the Locking striker. The resulting penalty put wide & a very big let off for valley. It was only 5 minutes later that Locking had there third. Locking striker picking the ball up on the right hand side & breezing past the defence to tuck it away from Wilson & into the corner for a third goal. Valley did get a lifeline at the end of the first half when some good battling from Ryan Mogg on the left hand side got Valley the ball in the final third. Stanley laid Andrews off 25 yards from goal and a sweet strike left the keeper no chance as the ball sailed into the back of the net.
Half Time: KVFC 2 - 3 Locking Park
The second half was much the same for Valley being pressed back into there half but dangerous on the counter attack. It didn't take long for Locking to make it 4 when the striker of Locking picked the ball up from the edge of the area. He was able to find some space to run into & smashed the ball home giving Locking a comfortable lead. Andrews nearly had his hattrick & again nearly got Valley back into the game when a long kick from Wilson in goal ricocheted back to Andrews on the edge of the area. This time first time striker with his left foot on the half volley saw spectacular goalkeeping from the Locking keeper the keep his team two goals ahead. Valley made a change in formation to see if they could find a foothold back into the game & a great chance fell to Smith. Some brilliant football from Valley saw Stanley play the ball into Smith for a 1 on 1 with the keeper. The keeper smothering the ball quickly again to keep his team from conceding. The game was becoming stretched and this suited locking & they added a 5th when the central midfielder ran past tired Valley defenders & tucked the ball past Wilson in the valley net. 5 minutes from time & Locking added a 6th goal. Excellent running from the striker who stood up an excellent cross to the far post. An unchallenged header saw the ball fly into the far corner, away from Wilson & the game was well & truly over. Valley did keep a fighting spirit & 2 minutes from the end Stanley found some space, played a nice ball into Andy Vowles who tucked the ball passed the onrushing keeper.
