Jubilee FC arrived in Ware for their league match against Wave Saviours. Having already beaten them twice this season Jubilee FC were optimistic of repeating that feat. Manager Elton Marks selected the 4-5-1 formation. Luke ‘Bosnich’ Lloyd started in goal for Jubilee. Max Charalambos and Piers ‘livewire’ Short were at left and right back respectively. Dean Powell and Jack ‘Essex’ Tickner reformed their partnership at centre back. Nicky Alvarez was in central midfield with Sam Brown and Jon Cerveno. While Johnny 'left-peg' Heather and David Binder provided the width on the left and right of midfield. Marc ‘Barnes’ Farrell spearheaded the Jubilee attack.
Ware Saviours kicked off and immediately tried a long ball over the top that Dean easily dealt with. Jubilee got a fair deal of possession and had some nice passing moves down the left and right channels. Jon Cerveno, Nicky Alvarez and Sam Brown were instrumental in this. Johnny Heather was looking back on form whipping in some excellent crossed from the left.
Ware Saviours were trying powerful balls into the channels but Max Charalambos and Piers Short were dealing with the oncoming wingers well. The ball was won in the middle of the park by Nicky Alvarez who played the ball to Sam Brown. Sam played in the on running Jon Cerveno who was fouled by the goalkeeper. PENALTY to Jubilee FC. Marc Farrell stepped up and slotted it into the bottom left corner of the goal, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way. 1-0 to Jubilee.
Ware kicked off and were already up to their old tricks with the long balls but Jack Tickner and Dean Powell dealt with them well. Jubilee were now playing excellent passing football with full backs Max Charalambos and Piers Short getting forward at every opportunity to help out the wingers. A ball from David binder was played into the feet of Sam Brown who meet his man but was then taken out inside the box resulting in a PENALTY. Marc Farrell confidently stepped up but slotted just wide this time.
Sam Brown played in a through ball to Marc Farrell who was looking to make up for his penalty miss. Marc took one touch and laced it into the bottom corner of the goal. 2-0 to Jubilee FC.
The half time whistle blew with the score at 2-0. The Jubilee players knew that this was a dangerous score line and that Ware Saviours had the potential to score goals. Elton Marks told the players that had done well but the job was only half done and they went out to win the second half.
Jubilee FC kicked off and you could see the confidence of the players as they were passing around the ball with ease. An Excellent move down the right involving Piers Short, Sam Brown and David Binder which resulted in a corner. A short corner was taken and Sam Brown whipped in the ball which was partially headed clear by a Ware Defender. Johnny Heather dinked the ball back into the danger area but the goalkeeper couldn’t get a hand to it and was poked in a close range by Jon Cerveno. 3-0 to Jubilee FC and cruising.
Jubilee were dominating precedings and a whipped in ball across goal by Sam Brown was begging to be put into the back of the net but was missed by every oncoming attacking player. Another opportunity came when Sam Brown was fouled in the penalty area and penalty awarded to Jubilee FC. Marc Farrell decided to pass on spot kicking duties to Sam Brown. Sam Brown got himself ready for the penalty and tried to place the shot in the right side of the goal. Unfortunately it was saved.
This seemed to inspire Ware Saviours as they started to attack Jubilee with a lot of pace and momentum. A ball was whipped in and a player fouled in the Jubilee box by Jack Tickner. Ware Saviours scored the resulting penalty, 3-1.
Jubilee immediately went on the attack and a ball from Nicky Alvarez to David Binder who cut in on his left and shot into the top corner. It took a little deflection on the way which took it out of the keeper’s hands and into the back of the net. 4-1 to Jubilee FC.
The Jubilee defenders got slack and allowed a cross to be whipped in and into the back of the net. 4-2 to Ware Saviours. Manager Elton Marks decided to put on some fresh legs and Barry White was introduced to the game at the expense of Marc Farrell. Barry came on an immediately imposed some physical threat by winning a few balls off the defenders.
A tame shot by Ware Saviours was scooped up by goal keeper Luke Lloyd and kicked long to the unmarked Barry White who slotted into the back of the net. 5-2 to Jubilee FC.
The full time whistle blew with the score at 5-3 with the team switching off in the last five minutes allowing Ware to get a goal. The whole team played well but special mentions must go to the midfield trio of Jon Cerveno, Nicky Alvarez and Sam Brown who allowed the team to play excellent passing football. It was also good to see Johnny Heather return to form.
