Guide Post played some excellent flowing football throughout this game against a more than capable Northburn team who have had some good results of late.
Guide Post started very strongly and seemed full of confidence passing the ball around the team with speed and accuracy. It wasn't long before pressure told and the visitors took the lead on 7 minutes after Adam Boyd won a tackle on halfway nad played a neat ball inside the fullback for Jack Taylor to run onto and hit a cross towards the back post which went beyond the keeper to Bobby Wake who tapped the ball into an empty net.
On 15 minutes Regan ('Ben Arfa') Graham went on a fantastic pacy run down the left leaving two or three of the opposition for dead and was unlucky to not beat the keeper to score what would have been one of the goals of the season.
The home side gradually worked their way into the game as Guide Post were creating great attacking opportunities but not really finding the final killer pass to score.
Any nerves were seemingly settled before half time when Regan scored on 30 minutes with a low drilled shot from the left side of the box.
At just 2 - 0 it wasn't the right time to make wholesale changes to the team but with 6 substitutes itching to get on the park and the team playing only two immediate changes were made. Liam Cotrell just back from injury came on at centre half and Ryan moved to right back, and Callum Pattiosn came on at left back for Adam Boyd.
Top scorer Ross Moore scored within a minute of the second half kicking off when a long ball forward was nodded down by Bobby and Ross instinctivelly lobbed an accurate shot over the keeper from 25 yards out.
The game seemed secure but the home side had different ideas and within two minutes the lead was reduced when the home side took advantage of some poor tackling to score.
Northburn seemed to grow in confidence and within 90 seconds made it 3 - 2 when another piece of sloppy defending allowed a neat finish.
Guide Post did well to settle their nerves and gradually over the next ten minutes regained composure and control of the game. On 56 minutes Ross grabbed his second goal with an assist from Jordan.
Chris Johnston came on up front and within minutes made an impact crossing from the right for Regan to dribble the ball into the net past the keeper to make it 5 - 2.
With 20 minutes to go Reece Bosomworth, Joe Armstrong and George Allsopp came on.
The visitors continued to press forward and again took control of the game with some excellent passing football.
Jordan Cuthbertson got in on the scoring to cap an excellent performance with a goal after 73 minutes when he calmly stroked the ball low past the keeper.
Chris Johnson desperately needed a goal and it looked as though it might be another frustrating day until on 75 minutes he got on the end of a cross from the right turned inside and shot through a couple of players to score.
The game anded 7 - 2 to Guide Post.
An excellent team performance from all!
