Home league match played on 18 November 2012.

G&S went in to their 2nd league fixture of the season looking to improve on last week's cup drubbing.  They started on a bright, sunny day with little wind and a perfect home surface, but were without Rich & Alex away in France.

There was however a welcome return for Dave Willden, James & Saunders to bolster the team.

The game was fairly end to end in the first half and the well marshalled Rovers defence was solid.  Jay & Dave Classen let very little past them, with Saunders & Dario mopping up everything else.

The midfield was bossed throughout the game by big Dave W, with cameos from Shaun & James.  Javon was his usual self, steaming down the left causing havoc.

Up front Dave Keen battled well, but was 'a bit poorly'!  Russ on the other hand did his usual battling throughout, probably covering nearly every blade of grass.

It was from one such run, when he chased a loose ball and smashed through the defender and goalie with a 100% committed fair challenge, that he left both players rolling about in agony in the 38th minute.  After lengthy treatment, they both continued, but the keeper was out of it.

2 minutes later, Dave W slipped a brilliant ball through to set Russ free on the right corner of the 6 yard box and, with the keeper no longer able to close him down, he smashed the ball low & hard for a deserved 1-0 lead.

From the kick off, the game was nearly finished.  The ball was passed straight back to the keeper who, with his injured leg, swung and only clipped the ball, falling to the ground in agony as he turned to see it nestle in the net for a crazy 2-0 lead to the Blues!

The keeper was subbed and a few minutes later it was half time.

Shaun & Jay's team talk was for everyone to keep their heads and keep playing football ie, don't get over excited and start playing park football!  Jay had to go off for Harry at half time with a mystery foot injury.

With the 2nd half only seconds old, Dave W picked the ball up in midfield and was given too much space.  He took the ball forward before smashing the ball home from over 35 yards as the stand in keeper flailed hopelessly at thin air!!  3-0, what a goal!

Rovers then seemed to take their foot off the pedal and paid the price only 3 minutes later.  With only 2 dangermen on the Reds side (8&9) and with this having been pointed out, the midfield, then the defence let them stroll through the middle to pull it back to 3-1!

Although the Blues dominated the 2nd half, there were times that chances went begging for Bromley and it was a bit 'heart in mouth' at times as the effort slackened off.

Dave W nearly bagged a 2nd when he curled another long range effort just over and Lee Somehow missed a golden opportunity after coming on for Jovan in the 75th minute (the less said about it the better eh mate?! lol).

Overall a good performance from everyone, but with special mentions to Dave W, Dave C (who played the last 15 minutes with a calf injury too!) and Russ.

100% in the league and up at least 2 places to mid table now, but with games in hand.  LET'S KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND SEE YOU ALL AT TRAINING!!!!
