On arrival, it was immediately evident today was not going to be pretty, but Jason did his best to brighten the day up with an (aluminous) glow. The pitch was not exactly the standard of Stadio Leafy Lane, and in addition we knew that Old Road were hardly going to be the Swansea of the league.
But a rasping team talk from Whitehead and Bailey Snr (where is Jnr, is he still alive?) inspired the lads to a great performance.
The goals were cracking, notably Dring’s 20 yard left foot smash, and the overall standard of play was very good, probably our best performance this season. Even Big Tog’s found his voice and hands, plucking crosses out of the air with ease.
As a team we pulled through against a physical team. We fought with them in the middle, with Jason and his Labrador Bamford always close by one another in the middle, winning the challenges and getting stuck in.
The only slight downer was the lack of croissants; Sam, next time make sure you have one before you turn up.
Man of the Match went to Ross, but, he does not get a beer as a prize, as he was not at the pub. So well done Ross, Luke will enjoy the pint for you! But each and everyone of us played our part today. So well done lads, on to Sportzcoach next week, where we need more of the same.
