So if Sprowston draw once more, Costessey at Home maybe? And we win all our remaining fixtures then it's down to goal difference. The 1-0 score line yesterday may offer the likeness to a championship winning side; I'm thinking Liverpool 1980's, Norwich a few years ago with Worthington, Doncaster Rovers this season. Like Bayer at home the other week the three points was the important thing yesterday but Wymondham never tired and our goal after about 70 mins did not see them collapse either.

Cringleford opted for the 3-5-2 for this one. Richard GK, Jim Dale, Simon and Mark CBs, Karl, Scott, Westy CM’s, Hugh RM, Ben LM, Roger, Shane CF. Mick, Dave S, Matt on the bench. Looks good on paper particularly the centre of midfield. Very little was created both ends and we didn't win a corner in the first half. Closest I remember us getting was a shot from Simon from outside the area that went high into the tennis court and a left foot shot from Matt on the turn forcing their keeper to stop one. The pitch was hard and Scott's Half-Time talk included the good advice to take two touches, I think this helped as second half we were better.

We won at least three corners in the second half. The first from Karl was inviting and high about a foot parallel with the touchline/goal line, this was scrambled away. The second from Matt swung outwards but nothing came from it and the third was taken short but again nothing came from that either. Wymondham had a few chances themselves. A header from their RB glanced wide, Richard had to make at least two smart low stops, Mark blocked a goal bound effort and they had a few corners too. Roger created shooting opportunities for at least a couple of shots that went over.

The only goal came mid way through the second half. A loose pass out from the Wymondham defence was collected on half way by Potter who had a lot of space in front to travel into. Roger was on the left and I believe Shane was also in on the right. The ball was played into Roger who, I think, had a shot blocked and the rebound came out invitingly to be stuck left foot and first time by Potter onto the diving keeper's hand and into the net. Good feeling of relief when that went in. There was no collapse and the opposition didn't tire despite having the bare 11. Sadly for us the Wymondham keeper's goal kicks were not exploited, Roger particularly wanted to do this. We meet this side again on the 28th.

Doesn't look like there are any easier games left. This was a hard fought win. Be interesting to see why Horsford won 10 - 0 at Bayer. A win there next week would be great and is exactly what we require.

A note from the Editor…..It was by all accounts unanimous that Ben Potter was Man of the Match by Miles on this occasion. Another gutsy performance by Ben who is indicative of the great fighting spirit that Cringleford have shown this season.
