Witnesham Wasps 3-4 Bramford Utd
Bramford travelled the short distance to Northgate to face local rivals Witnesham Wasps, a few of the Bramford lads were returning to there former hunting ground and returned to a nice pitch in lovely summer conditions.
After good performances in the last match from James K and Logan they got there 1st league starts for Bramford, Will returned to the side in place of Lewie and Grant who had a MOTM game vs. Wickham last week returned to Right Back. Joel, Lewie, Idris and Jamie all missed the game for different reasons.
Again it didnt take long for Bramford to break the deadlock when Logan's lofted through ball to Josh Lea who out muscled the Wasps Centre Back to poke home past the Wasps Goalie. 1-0.
It took just 5 minutes more for Bramford to double their lead at Northgate, when Grant's long throw found George, who cut inside the Full back took on the Centre Half and shot low into the corner to make it 2-0.
On 10 minutes Bramford's back 4 fell asleep and allowed to the ball to drop to the Witnesham Centre Forward and he made no mistake when he shot past stand in Goalkeeper Danny Knock who made a good attempt to save the shot. 2-1.
The game became very quiet with Bramford being the slightly better team creating more chances. but when George played a lovely through ball to Josh, it looked like the Wasps keeper would be favourite to, but Josh had other plans and got there just before to knock through the keepers legs and score his second of the morning. 3-1.
On 38 minutes wasps were awarded a penalty when Tom brought down the wasps Centre Forward, who appeared to have dived for it. Wasps then converted their penalty to make it 3-2 6 minutes before half time.
At Half time Andy and Tony made some changes which saw Bramford go 4-5-1 and Alex go to Centre Back and Reece into Centre Midfield with James Race, George dropped into the attacking midfield role just behind Josh Lea.
On 61 minutes Josh closed down the keeper when he went to launch a long punt up field but josh lept and blocked it, Josh then took it away from the keeper 18 yards out open goal, and you would expect you're nan to score it, but Josh squanded the chance as he hit the post, but his work rate and desire to win the ball back and took on about 4 players to pass the ball across the box to George to tap in from a few yards out. 4-2.
Bramford seemed to settle and looked well in control of the game and made some subs to get some of the lads on the bench some much needed playing time.
On 83 minutes a ball seemed to beat the back four and the player toe punted the ball into the top corner past Danny in the Bramford goal. 4-3.
Bramford held on in the heat at Witnesham to hang on to all 3 points and a vital away win.
