Home league match played on 30 March 2013.
Kicked off at 1:30 PM
Boreham went into a double header with Old Chelmsfordians struggling
for players, a mixture of injuries, work and players not fancying a
game due to Sunday football causing headaches for the management.
That said, a decent 11 took the field with Bruce in goal, Charter, Powell,
Worthington and Parsons the back four, Dale, Goodchild, Simpson and
Ince in the midfield with
Cowcher partnering Rush up top. Baines the only sub available would later
make his debut.
Boreham started the game the livelier against an OCs side who were also
struggling for numbers and started the game with only ten men. A couple of half chances
created by Boreham we're not converted only for the OCs who would see their first
real attack break the deadlock. Against the run of play, 15 minutes in, OCs worked
the ball down Boreham's right, the left midfielder had loads to do on the corner of
the area, he jinked inside and planted the ball into the far top corner of the
net, a decent finish from the midfielder, Bruce had no chance.
After only 20 minutes Boreham were unlucky to lose the services of Ince who suffered a
reoccurrence of a knee injury picked up in training, he was replaced by Baines who made his senior
debut.
After the goal it was again Boreham who would take control and 5 minutes later they were level.
A neat ball from Goodchild into Rush who took a shot from 22 yards which the keeper could only
parry, Cowcher was quick to the rebound and finished from a yard out, a typical predatory goal
from Boreham's top goalscorer, 1-1 and game on!
Boreham finished the half strong and nearly took the lead a few minutes later, a Goodchild ball
over the top was met by Cowcher who was clean through with the keeper to beat, Cowcher
opted for a lob which crashed against the bar and was unlucky not to double his goal tally for
the afternoon.
OCs were restricted to a few half chances due to good defending, in truth OCs only
opportunities were created by Boreham who were guilty of over playing in the wrong areas at
times.
HT 1-1
With no subs available Boreham took to the field with an inexperienced right side and a few
players carrying knocks. Boreham reduced OCs to half chances and continued to defend well
with Bruce commanding his area and less risks taken at the back. Boreham's midfield battled
on but struggled to create any chances of note for the front two, Rushy had a few shots from
distance but his shooting boots were left in the nightclub a few hours before kick off.
The game came to a disappointing end with little action of note, a share of the points and an
improvement in the second game urgently required. Plenty of heart but too many errors which
turned potential attacks into defending for our lives, something that has been creeping into
Boreham's play over the past few weeks.
FT 1-1
