The don Pulled off a great result today with a 3 - 1 Victory agaisnt the high flying East Dene club!
The don took the game to East Dene and within the first five mins we had taken the lead. The Don was awarded there one and only free kick of the game from there manager cough cough sorry the ref. It was floated in to the box by Elvis and up leaped Stepho to head home what a great start!!!!

It didn't start there even though there players were doing nothing but fouling and getting away with it, but the Don kept there cool and kept playing football. At times East Dene did show there class but the Don's defence stood firm with Elvis, Bushy, Wayne, Lee & Steve with standing any attack, going forward we looked dangerious. Tom finally broke free of the defence and slotted away cooly only for the goal to be ruled out for Off Side! finally east Dene broke free of the Don's defence and went through one on one with Steve only for Steve to pull off a fine save. The resulting corner was cleared by dom, the next corner the ball was whiped into the box there forward brought the ball down with his hand but play was waved on and a great curling strike was stuke in to the Don's net.

Right on the stroke of half time, the don had done so well and didn't deserve to be pegged back.

The second half started brighter for East Dene with them pushing on but again the Don held firm. East Dene nearly took the lead when a thunderbolt of a strike hit the cross bar and the follow up was put wide. Again East Dene came forward again and created a chance only for a great clearence off the line by Wayne. Again they came at us but we held firm. Finally 5, 10 or 15 mins into the game depending what watch the ref wanted to use the Don broke down the left with Tom who hit a lofted shot to the back post for Terry who made a great run to volley in from close range.

With the ref's watch re-set he got the game under way and with East Dene pushing on this left gaps at the back so the Don decided to chage formation to 4-5-1 and bring Simon & Matt on for the hard working Dom and goal scorer Terry. With pressure mounting the Don looked the more likely to score with a breakaway goal. There keeper pulled to great saves off from Tom and one from the head of Stepho. East Dene did create some chance one where there forward turned and shot only for Steve to save it and Simon to claer the ball. Moments late the don broke and managed to force a corner. The corner was cleared only to Stepho who's shot was too hot to handle and tipped on to the bar and rebounded to Lee who nodded in from close range. East Dene were shell shocked by the Great performance by the Don

With the clock set back to the correct time as the game was slipping away from East Dene the game was looking to fade away but a wicked shot was hit by East Dene towards the Don's goal Wayne went to block the shot but directed it into the bottom corner but a Great save from Steve who tipped it around the post. From the resulting corner the ball struck Matts armin the box but the reffed waved play on. The final moments went by without much to mention.
What a Win!!! agreat result for the Don. Everyone was superb today!!
But sadly we have some bad news, Wayne has broken his foot so will be out for the rest of the season. A great miss to the team. Get well soon pal!
