Away league match played on 08 September 2019.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

So, today was the day that we’d all been waiting for, all the planning, chasing registration, sorting equipment, acquiring sponsors had all come down to today...our first league game of the season

When the league was formed our first fixture would be newly promoted Allenton United Storm a team that we’ve played in the past in some firey encounters and a team that’d only lost 4 games last season, a tough start but were we ready????

A lovely morning the team descended onto Allenton turf even though we had a couple of late arrivals we managed to have a decent warm up, I chose the starting eleven and we were on the pitch ready for kick off

Chellaston started slowly but were never really threatened and Josh in goal never really had much to do but I thought Allenton were on top for the first ten minutes and the opposition coaches were being very vocal to the referee trying to win every decision.

We were starting to settle and creating half chances but never really testing the Allenton goalkeeper with shots either under hit or being dragged wide. A few changes were made and one of our subs Kian made an instant impact after a fine assist by Tom 0-1 Chellaston. We then were the only team in control with a few minutes left of the first half 0-2 Chellaston.....wait, offside apparently according to the Allenton coaching team on the half way line so back to 0-1 Chello.

Half time

I got the lads in, and told them what I thought and especially to Harry, Tom and Connor, why were we allowing the Allenton midfield so much time, why aren’t we bullying the big Allenton centre backs???

I think the talk went well, Harry was starting to control the game all on his own and gliding past Allenton players with ease before long our quality shone through after some fine work by Shay on the left he cut the ball back to Harry who finished superbly past the Allenton goalkeeper and we were now 0-2 up.

The team on top were now playing some great football and the third soon came with Archie playing some good stuff and superbly putting the ball into a dangerous area for Kian to grab his second goal v his old teammates.

Josh in our sticks was now just a spectator and had just lost a bit of concentration for them to get a very lucky goal back, under no circumstances was I blaming our number one as when called upon in this game he showed his class.

1-3 soon became 1-4 after some good hold up play and a show of strength from Connor he laid it off just outside the area for Harry to get hold and shoot it over the Allenton goalkeeper a fine goal.

We came close quite a few times to add to our goal tally throughout the match Connor shooting over, Finlay hitting the bar, Tom getting some long range shots off so all in all a fine outing for the Chello boys!!!

MOTM I could’ve gave it to Harry easily but I believe he’ll be in double figures for that if he continues his great form so today I’ve had to give it to Kian for his commitment to score a goal v his old team and he was rewarded with a double. Well done Kian.

Can I also give a shoutout to the back 4 and Josh who were solid and committed throughout and were never really troubled.

Onto next week first round of the cup against a newly formed rival in Heanor Town. Play our best and I’ve no doubt we can advance to round 2.

See you all at training on Friday ????????????
